4-H’ers presented Presidential Volunteer Service awards at commission meeting


4-H members and adult volunteers were honored with the national Presidential Volun- teer Service Award, in honor of their volunteer contributions which totaled 1,197 hours.
During the county commission meeting on Feb. 21, Mayor Terry Frank and the Anderson County Board of Commissioners recognized outstanding 4-H members and volunteers who earned the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. This national recognition through the Points of Light Foundation honors individuals for their volunteer contributions and encourages them to live a life of service.

Eleven 4-H club members and volunteers were recognized for a total of 1,197 hours of volunteer service. Gold award honorees included Danny Bridges, Jr., EmmaGrace Bridges, Baylee Brown, Bristol Brown, Lydia Calhoun, Briley Gray, Sadie Gray, and Riley Mozingo. Bronze award honorees included Laura Gray, Skylar Mozingo, and Alice Ogan.

Both youth and adult volunteers contribute to the 4-H program in a wide range of roles such as teaching workshops, judging contests, and chaperoning events. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering with 4-H, call the Extension office at (865) 457-6246 or email bcarrol3@utk.edu.
