Our democracy is in trouble
To All Fellow Tennesseans:
If any of you have any doubts about the fact that our democracy is in trouble, I trust that the actions of the Tennessee House of Representatives April 6 have dispelled those doubts.
The expulsion of two Democratic representatives and the near expulsion of another for speaking out to save all our children was reprehensible. What the Republicans have managed to do is reinforce the view of Tennessee as a backward, bigoted state.
Yet at the same time, the Republicans representatives have now made three people who were barely known outside of Tennessee world famous. This is a true statement – check out the BBC news. They have also enraged those of us who truly care about our democracy. We must now do everything we can to save our city, state, and national government from becoming a single party entity. I beg all of you who are appalled by the actions taken yesterday to join us in this endeavor.
This can be done by joining your Democratic county party (andersoncountydemocraticparty.com/), volunteering to register voters, or just attending events to support those people fighting for democracy.
