The postseason is upon us
Lady Dragons are making believers out of a lot of people
Now, it’s time for districts throughout the Volunteer State to crown their champions in a postseason that will wind up at the state championships at the Spring Fling in Murfreesboro later this month.
In District 4-AAA, Clinton is in the midst of a magical 2023 campaign under Head Coach Leonard Sams.
The Lady Dragons recently won a share of the regular-season championship, splitting the title with Knoxville Halls.
Clinton split a pair of district meetings with the Lady Devils and narrowly dropped a game to Halls at the Eastman Invitational in Kingsport.
The Lady Dragons, however, earned a share of the league title with a recent 1-0 eight-inning victory in North Knox County.
Clinton, by virtue of a district tie-breaker, will be the No. 2 seed in the District 4-AAA Tournament, which opens Monday at Anderson County.
The Lady Dragons will open tournament play Monday night against the third-seeded Lady Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. Clinton swept Anderson County during the regular season.
The top-seeded Lady Devils will take on No. 4 Scott at 7:30 p.m.
Tournament play continues through Wednesday with a possible game on Thursday.
In District 3-4A, the tournament will be played at the new venues in Knoxville. West High will host the tournament, which opens Friday night on Sutherland Avenue.
On Friday, Oak Ridge (the No. 5 seed) will play the No. 4 seeded and host Lady Rebels at 5:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to play district champion Karns on Monday.
No. 6 Campbell County will take on No. 3 Knoxville Central at 7:30 p.m. The winner will advance to play No. 2 Powell on Monday.
