‘Clue’ at Oak Ridge Playhouse
The show opened May 5 and will run select dates through Sunday, May 14.
“It’s a dark and stormy night at Boddy Manor, a lavish estate full of haunting secrets. Six mysterious guests have assembled for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their anonymous host ends up dead, everyone becomes a suspect!” an Oak Ridge playhouse news release stated.
“Based on the hit Paramount movie and board game from Hasbro, Clue is the comedy who-dun-it that will leave audiences guessing and dying of laughter.
“Join the iconic, colorful oddballs (known only by their given aliases) Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. Peacock, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, and Mr. Green, for an evening they will never forget. As the guests become victims, the plot thickens, the noose tightens, and the body count stacks up. Was it Colonel Mustard, in the library, with a candlestick? Or Mrs. Peacock, in the kitchen, with a rope? Watch as the partygoers race to find out WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT? A fast, furious, and funny farce: Clue – it’s not just a game anymore!”
The cast includes Caleb Burnham (Wadsworth), Holland Hysmith (Yvette), Casey Maxwell (Miss Scarlet), Robbin Paige Sharp (Mrs. Peacock), Virginia Eberting (Mrs. White), Jeffrey Eberting (Colonel Mustard), David Snow (Professor Plum), and Rollin Prince (Mr. Green), with Anna Elizabeth Gant, Tony Cedeño and John Marx making up various ensemble roles.
“It’s the same iconic characters that everyone knows and loves, but unlike the film, it’s more immersive so audiences can experience a more-visceral reaction with a live experience,” said director Reggie Law when asked what distinguished the live show from the 1985 film of the same name.
“I thought the show would have broad audience appeal because of the film and I thought it would be a good challenge artistically,” he said. “It’s a fun, wild ride for audiences.”
