ACHS wins ‘Engine Start Challenge’

Anderson County High School placed first in the Engine Start Challenge in the Top Wrench competition.

The competition’s official website stated participating students came from more than 20 East Tennessee high schools on Thursday, April 6, at Crown College in Powell.

It was the 31st Top Wrench competition, and included different hands-on automotive technology challenges.

Anderson County High School placed second in the Computer Control Car Challenge.

Oak Ridge High School came in second in Live Welding.

Winning teams received cash prizes and scholarships.

Top Wrench is a nonprofit vocational program developed for high school students as an introduction to team building and basic technical skills as they prepare for careers in the automotive field, an ORHS news release stated.
