Coal Creek Miner’s reunion set for May 27
The museum is located at 201 S. Main St. in Rocky Top.
The reunion serves as a “joyous occasion for former miners, their families, and the local community to come together and commemorate the deep-rooted heritage of coal mining,” according to the museum.
“The event aims to honor the contributions of the brave men and women who dedicated their lives to the industry, while providing an opportunity to share stories, memories, and forge new connections,” an announcement said.
“During the reunion, attendees will have the chance to explore the captivating exhibits that bring to life the challenging yet inspiring history of coal mining.
“From the authentic mining artifacts to the immersive displays showcasing the miners’ daily lives, the Coal Creek Miners Museum offers a truly authentic experience for visitors of all ages,” the release said.
In addition to the museum visit, the reunion will feature live music from local musicians and free hots dogs.
The Coal Creek Miners Museum Reunion also presents an opportunity to express gratitude and respect for the sacrifices made by coal miners, as well as to raise awareness about the ongoing importance of coal mining heritage in shaping our community, the museaum said.
The event is open to the public, and all former miners, their families, history enthusiasts, and community members are encouraged to attend. Admission to the museum and the food will be free.
However, the museum will be selling shirts, books on coal mining history, and coal items. Also, donations will be taken, which will be used to help with the operational expenses of the museum.
