Listening to the people
U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn made a stop in Anderson County last Tuesday (June 27) as part of her tour of all of the state’s 95 counties.
Meeting with Emergency Services personnel, Blackburn listened to a variety of concerns, especially reimbursement issues.
Blackburn said she is looking at issues that rural health initiatives can help address.
“It’s good to get everyone together in the same room and hear what is happening,” Blackburn said.
Anderson County was “about the 70th” county Blackburn had been to as of Tuesday.
She said she’s hearing people’s concerns about inflation, and also getting a lot of feedback on the country’s southern border situation.
“Law enforcement across the state — our sheriffs — are concerned about our border security,” she said.
She said law enforcement officials are concerned about individuals who are coming into the United State who are part of gangs, are involved with trafficking drugs, or are involved in other criminal activities.
“There is real concern there,” she said.
