Shouting ‘Fire’ in a crowded movie house
EDITOR:
The vast majority of Anderson County residents enjoy the harmony of community and the natural beauty of our surroundings.
Unfortunately, today’s GOP has distorted traditional Republican conservativism, and many party members accept as reality demonstrably untrue beliefs, the worst example being a majority of the GOP say President Biden was not legitimately elected.
Under this dark cloud of lies comes Mr. Samuel T. Foust, a letter writer whose track record displays a dyspeptic imagination with a cudgel attack style that always has a fatal flaw, namely, his assumption of dark facts without any evidence or attribution, which he usually ties to Democrats.
However, this time, his so called warning concerning alleged deviant agendas aimed at children consists of a startling implicit condemnation of public school boards, public school teachers, public employees and volunteers in the public library system who allowed and/or stood by while an educational policy was adopted and implemented to systematically teach gender revision and ambiguity.
This assertion is ludicrous and perhaps unhinged.
As a political GOP partisan, Mr. Foust routinely defends his parry by projecting onto Democrats what has been revealed to exist in GOP circles, see: “The Billionaires Powering the 2024 Republican Candidates,” New York Post, Aug. 6, 2023.
Mr. Foust’s motives at propagating such ugliness are his own, but the public airing of his speculative negativity can be compared to someone yelling “Fire” in a crowded movie house.
Freedom of speech will be his defense while he washes his hands at the resulting cascade of fear and acrimony.
The resulting fears, polarization and distrust that rampant lies can ignite feed into a growing public frustration and discontent that Mr. Foust and friends hope to harness and benefit from.
Do Not Let Them.
