Week 11 roundup: Playoffs begin this week

All three area teams closed out the regular season on a winning note and now Oak Ridge, Anderson County and Clinton will turn their attention to the TSSAA playoffs.

The Wildcats, the Region 3-5A Champions, closed out their regular-season campaign with a 55-28 victory over Campbell County Thursday night at Blankenship Field.

ORHS continued its dominance over the Cougars and have now won 38 of the 39 games in the all-time series between the two teams.

Sophomore quarterback Blaine Stansberry had five touchdown passes against Campbell County and De’Jauvis Dozier accounted for four touchdowns as the Wildcats a 35-7 halftime lead and never looked back.

The Wildcats will open the Class 5A playoffs this week when they host East Hamilton (6-4) at Blankenship Field Friday.

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

Also in Class 5A, Clinton closed out the regular season with a 47-35 win over Heritage in a non-league shootout.

The Dragons (4-6) have made the playoffs for the first time since 2018. Clinton is the No. 3 seed from Region 3 and will be on the road against McMinn County (6-4).

Chauncey Felts rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. He also threw a 40-yard scoring strike to Wesley Phillips.

Quarterback Joshuah Keith was 10-for-20 for 154 yards and threw a touchdown. Jerius Hundley also had two touchdown runs for Clinton in its season finale.

In Region 2-4A, defending state champion Anderson County (6-4, 5-0 in the region) routed South-Doyle 56-16 on senior night for the Mavericks.

Mavericks won their seventh consecutive league title and made a seventh consecutive

perfect run through their conference schedule.

ACHS quarterback Zae Hall finished 16-for-20 with two touchdowns through the air and running back Nick Moog rushed for 177 yards and four TDs.

ACHS will host Sullivan East (6-4) Friday night to begin defense of its 2022 Class 4A State Championship.
