MLK prayer breakfast at Green McAdoo scheduled for Feb. 10

The MLK prayer breakfast at Green McAdoo Cultural Center, 101 School St. in Clinton (on the hill behind the high school), honoring the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., has been rescheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10.

The public is invited to attend and eat a breakfast of bacon, eggs, pancakes, juice, and coffee in honor of Dr. King.

Special music will be provided by Brandon Whitaker, a musician from Knoxville who is also a composer.

Several area faith leaders will lead prayers urging attendees to continue to strive to fulfill Dr. King’s dream.

Trevor King will reflect on Dr. King’s legacy, and Paris Ellis of Harriman will offer a solo.

This event is sponsored by the Green McAdoo Cultural Center and the Oak Ridge-Anderson County NAACP.

Attendance is free, but the center asks those planning to attend to reserve a ticket on Eventbrite so organizers can prepare the necessary amount of food.

The NAACP Education Committee’s mission is to engage parents and educational officials to provide educational opportunities so each child has equal access.

Its overall vision is that every student and parent has the tools to be prepared for college, career, and any opportunity to be successful.
