WWII Veteran’s life was an inspiration

RIP: WW II veteran Ruth Skidmore. (photo:EmmaGrace Bridges )
On March 13, I learned that Ruth Skidmore, 101, a sweet friend who was at great role model to me, had passed.

I’ve not known her as long as some others, but in the short time, she became my friend.

She was a veteran of World War II.

Mrs. Skidmore has been an inspiration to me and is a true legend and an inspiration to all girls.

What she’s seen and witnessed in her lifetime is inspirational and mind-blowing at the same time.

She was born in 1922, when Warren Harding was the 29th president, and Calvin Coolidge was vice president.

She lived through 17 presidents, from Roosevelt to Kennedy to Nixon to Reagan to Biden.

To have seen what she has lived through would be amazing, hard and painful.

She lived during the years of Martin Luther King Jr. and the Apollo 11 flight, when man first landed on the moon, July 16, 1969.

She wat not only a legend, but a hero and historian. I’m truly grateful to have known her.

Fly high with the angels sweet friend. Thought and prayers to her family.
