DAR to honor child with patriot marker
American Revolution child soldier William Cross will get a patriot grave marker honoring him.
Anyone may join the Tennessee Society of Children of the American Revolution at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, at Kern United Methodist Church, 451 East Tennessee Ave., Oak Ridge, for the event.
“We’re very honored to be able to play a part in it to recognize a Revolutionary soldier who lived in this area,” said Teri Oaks, regent of the Clinch Bend Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
Cross served as a teenager before settling down and raising his family in Anderson County after the war.
