The third time was the charm for Clinton High School tennis player Sara Boundy.

Boundy, a senior for the Lady Dragons, won the district singles championship Friday at Tyson Park.

She had reached the district title match in each of the past two seasons, and finished runner-up in both 2023 and 2024.

She’ll move on to the regionals on May 13.

“I’m really happy for Sara; she’s my only senior,” Clinton Coach Hannah Cunningham said. “She finished second the last two years. We finally have a district girls singles championship.

“She’ll move on to play in the regional, and we know she’ll get the second-place finisher from the other district.

“ We don’t have the other brackets and all we know is that it will be some time on May 13.”

In girls’ doubles, Clinton’s tandem of Josie Moody and Kyleigh Gallaher made it to the semifinals in Knoxville.

Clinton also had Jack Wilson reach the semifinals in the boys tournament.

“I’m happy,” Cunningham said.

“The kids did great. I have big expectations for these kids next year.”
