Brooks has hot bat for River Boys in double-header
The River Boys 18U baseball team opened its season with two losses on the road Thursday night in Blount County.
The Townsend Mountaineers defeated the River Boys 9-3 in the first game and notched a 9-4 victory in the nightcap of a doubleheader to open the 2024 summer season.
In the first game, the River Boys scored three runs despite only managing to come up with two hits, as Will Brooks singled and scored, and Brennan Tipton had a single and two RBIs.
Dallas Beets walked and scored in the contest, while Jackson Barrett went 0-for-2 and drove in a run.
In the second game, Brooks went 2-for-3. He had two doubles and two RBIs. JP Robbins had a hit and scored two runs. Tipton had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Jackson Webb was 1-for-1, and Evan Carmichael singled and scored.
The River Boys faced their crosstown rival Coal Creek (2-2) on the road in a doubleheader on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time.
The River Boys head to Corryton Thursday to face the Graveston Firebirds. Action begins at 6 p.m.
