Bulls split meeting with Mountaineers

The Coal Creek Bulls had a tough week on the baseball diamond last week. The Bulls lost three of their four game last week.

On Thursday, Coal Creek split a double header against the Townsend Mountaineers. The Bulls won the first game, 3-2, and lost the nightcap, 13-0.

In Game 1, the Bulls got a solid pitching performance from pitcher Jeremiah Owens. Owens threw a complete game, going five innings. He allowed two runs, six hits and two walks. He had three strikeouts.

Offensively, Coal Creek managed just two hits. Easton Beaty hit a solo home run and Clay Fletcher went 1-for-1.

In Game 2, the Bulls were shutout and again, managed just two hits, a pair of singles. Jack Wilson was 1-for-2 and Peyton Wilson was 1-for-1.

On Tuesday, June 11, the Bulls made the trip to Steve Hunley Field in Corryton for a double header against the Graveston Freebirds. Coal Creek dropped both ends of the double header, falling, 5-1 in the first game and dropping a 7-6 decision in Game 2.

In the first game, Fletcher went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored, while Landry Sharp was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

In Game 2 against Graveston, Sharp was 2-dor-3, with a double, four stolen bases, two runs and an RBI. Leadoff hitter Elijah Johnson was 1-for-1. He scored two runs, stole two bases and drove in a run.

Jack Wilson chipped in with a hit, a run and a stolen base.

Coal Creek makes the short trip to face crosstown rival, the River Boys Thursday. The Bulls and River Boys will play a double header at Jaycee Park with action beginning at 6 p.m.
