Postseason honors

Shelton, Black, Bond receive All-State recognition

Tennessee Baseball Report recently released its postseason teams and awards, and Oak Ridge High and Anderson County were well-represented.

The Wildcats went 28-16-1 and won the District 3-4A Tournament as the No. 3 seed and qualified for the state tournament for the first time in more than five decades. They were ranked fifth in the outlet’s final Class 4A poll.

Freshman Parker Free was named to the Super Freshman Team. Oak Ridge’s Mikee Teasley and Kamden Welch were both named to the outlet’s Super Sophomore Team.

Anderson County pitchers Daniel Unthank and Wil Ridenour were also selected for the Super Sophomore Team.

Oak Ridge also had a pair of All-Region selections as Teasely and senior shortstop Caden Black were named to the All-Region 2 Team. The Mavericks also had Trent Strickland receive All-Region 2 honors after they finished second in the District 4-AAA regular-season standings.

Black, Clinton’s Harrison Shelton and Anderson County’s Alex Bond also received All-State recognition from the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association.

Black was named to the Class 4A team, while Shelton and Bond were selected to the Class 3A squad.
