‘Them!’ at AMSE

Science will meet science fiction with a free showing of the classic giant ant film “Them!” at the American Museum of Science and Energy at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27.

“For those uninitiated in the magic of this awesome film, it involves giant ants making a mess of things in the American West, and is generally regarded as one of the best monster movies of the 1950s,” an announcement stated. “There is mayhem, there is suspense, but most of all, there are super giant ants.”

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the event at the museum, which is at 115 E Main St., in Oak Ridge near JCPenney.

Visitors can purchase refreshments and tour the museum, including the ant farm in the Conner Classroom.

“Though, in full transparency, our ants are not as big as those in ‘Them!’ At least not yet,” the announcement stated.
