Historic Downtown Clinton’s annual “Sip of Summerfest” event on Aug. 9 will be held for the first time at the historic Kincaid House, 710 Eagle Bend Road, from 6-10 p.m.

It’s the third in a series of annual summer beer events sponsored by the downtown Clinton group, and will feature tastings of beer from a variety of area breweries, along with live music, contests and more.

Also coming this week (Aug. 1) is the next “Tasty Thursday Food Truck Rally” from 5-8 p.m. at 425 Eagle Bend Road, in the vacant lot next to the former Real Dry Cleaners building.

This Thursday’s food choices will include Hamock’s, Poynor’s Pommes Frites, and B’s Bites BBQ.

In the Sip of Summerfest, “Local breweries gather to bring the best beer to Clinton,” the downtown group says. “Ticket price includes beer, food and music entertainment.”

There will also be a 40-minute Tennessee whiskey/bourbon “blind” tasting.

The music will be provided by The Imaginaries, described as “an Americana band formed in the open plains of Oklahoma.” It consists of husband and wife duo Shane Henry (guitar, vocals) and Maggie McClure.

The Imaginaries group “fuses blues/rock grit with effortless harmonies,” an announcement said.

“They have opened for B.B. King, Sara Bareilles, Edwin McCain and more, and they even wrote and produced the soundtrack for the Netflix feature film ‘A Cowgirl’s Song,’” the release said.

Participating in the Sip of Summerfest will be Yee Haw Brewing Co., Orange Hat Brewing Co., Clinch River Brewing, Hutton & Smith Brewing Co. (Chattanooga), Shulz Brau Brewing Co., Savannah Bee Company, Wiseacre Brewing Co. (Memphis), Rhine Geist Cincy-Made, Gatlinburg Brewing Co., Iron Forge Brewing Co., and Hops and Hounds.

Tickets for that event are on sale now, and prices are $25 (for designated rivers), $50, and $81.88.

The food truck rally will be repeated on Aug. 8, in the same place, in the parking lot next to the former Real Dry Cleaners building, which is where Hamock’s Restaurant will be opening soon.

The next downtown merchants’ event will be “August Market Night,” which will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.

That event will be a repeat of the recent July Market Night, sponsored by the Historic Downtown Clinton Merchants Association, a separate organization.

In this event, Market Street will be blocked to vehicular traffic for the evening, and there will be street merchandise and food vendors, as well as specials in the downtown stores, which will remain open all evening.
