Anderson County High School hosted its annual youth soccer camp late last week, and Coach Chris Curtin was all smiles after the three-day event.

Mother Nature also cooperated as there were some sprinkles on the first night, but otherwise, the rain stayed away.

“It was open to players in grades K-8, and we had 75 kids,” Curtin said. “We went from 6-9 [p.m.], and the younger kids went from 6-8 [p.m.].

“We ran drills, and the younger kids played duck-duck-goose and some other kids’ games,” the coach said.

Curtin had three guest coaches on hand for the three-day event, which ended Friday night.

He ran the camp with the help of FC Alliance’s Filip Leander, East Tennessee Football Club’s Taryn Bader and Roane State Community College Assistant Coach Nathan Worley.

ACHS Assistant Coach Madyson Haire was also on hand, along with the entire Lady Mavericks team.

“I had some of my more mature players coaching the younger kids, and all of the older kids went through a rotation, so they got coaching from all three coaches on all three nights,” Curtin said. “On the first night, we did some individual stuff.

“On the second night, we worked on passing, and then on the third night, we worked on finishing.”
