Clinton, Anderson County use playday to get ready for season

Two area high school girls soccer teams were in action Saturday at the Clinton Preseason Playday.

The host Lady Dragons played one match and came up on the short end of a 2-0 decision against Concord Christian School.

Anderson County played a pair of 25-minute matches. The Lady Mavericks lost 1-0 to William Blount and played Rockwood to a 0-0 draw.

Both Clinton and Anderson County will continue their preparations for the coming season. Both sides will open the regular season next week.

Anderson County will travel to Powell to play the Lady Panthers on Monday, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. The Lady Mavericks will also play Kingston at home Tuesday. They’ll conclude the week Thursday, Aug. 15, at Knoxville Halls.

Clinton, meanwhile, will open its campaign at home against Pigeon Forge on Tuesday. Match time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The Lady Dragons will host Oliver Springs on Aug. 15.
