Free talk on ‘Secrecy, Secuity and Spies’

A National Park Service talk titled “Secrecy, Security and Spies” will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the former Oak Ridge Turnpike Checking Station.

It’s scheduled to last an hour.

The station, an old guard house from World War II, is at 2900 Oak Ridge Turnpike.

“Post-war Oak Ridge earned the moniker of America’s Secret City. Join a ranger talk inside the Turnpike Checking Station to learn about the security apparatus that wartime residents lived and worked under, and the few who tried to subvert it,” an official announcement stated.
