Concert Saturday at Museum of Appalachia
Live music, food and more will greet visitors to a free Summer Sessions event Saturday (Aug. 24) from 6-9 p.m. at the Museum of Appalachia at 2819 Andersonville Highway, Norris.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
The event will feature country and Americana singer Shawn Camp and acoustic band Wood Box Heroes.
“Grab your lawn chairs, put on those dancing shoes, and get ready to sway to some bluegrass tunes,” an official announcement stated.
Previously, since 2018, Summer Sessions concerts had been held at A.K. Bissell Park in Oak Ridge.
But due to construction in that area, the event has been moved to the Museum of Appalachia.
Singer-songwriter Shawn Camp has been on the Nashville music scene since the late 1980s.
A prolific songwriter, he co-wrote several No. 1 hit songs, including “Two Pina Coladas” for Garth Brooks and “How Long Gone” for Brooks & Dunn.
Camp has released several albums since 1993, with two singles charting on U.S. country radio.
His work as a record producer earned him Album of the Year at the 2012 Americana Music Awards for “This One’s for Him: A Tribute to Guy Clark.”
In 2014, he received a Grammy for Best Folk Album for Guy Clark’s “My Favorite Picture of You.”
The event is sponsored by ORNL Federal Credit Union, WDVX, Yee Haw Beer and the Museum of Appalachia.
