K.K. Meredith seeks reelection to Clinton City School Board

K.K. MEREDITH
K.K. Meredith has announced that she will be a candidate for re-election to the Clinton City School Board in Ward 1 in the Nov. 5 election.

Meredith has served eight years on the school board in both elected and appointed positions. She was first appointed to the board in 2015 and elected to the position in 2018.

“I fully support public education and believe that every student has a right to develop his or her fullest potential,” Meredith said.

“As a board, we have a clear vision, work as a team, adopt a fiscally sound budget, focus on what is best for all students, communicate with the community and advocate for public education.”

A Clinton native, Meredith attended Clinton Elementary School, as well as Clinton Middle and High schools, and was involved with Clinton schools when her five children attended.

One daughter, Morgan Lane, is now a teacher at Clinton Elementary School. She has two grandchildren attending the school, and they inspire her to continue her service on the school board, she said.

“I will advocate for the children and staff of Clinton City Schools and uphold the mission: To educate our students to achieve their full potential by providing a safe and challenging academic environment where standards are high and learning is a priority,” she said.

Meredith supported and helped implement the Blaze, a comprehensive program of activities offering students opportunities to develop their talents and interests beyond the classroom.

The Blaze, started in 2018, won the Tennessee School Boards Association Award for Excellence in Education in 2020.

Each student has his or her own personal digital device in a program called T4L, or Technology for Learning, she said.

The district has completed significant security upgrades in recent years, including a full-time school resource office in each school.

The district serves about 950 pre-K through sixth-grade students in three elementary schools and employs about 135 staff members.

Meredith, who received her associate degree in applied science from Roane State Community College, was a physical therapist assistant for almost 30 years.

She recently retired from Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. She now work as a real estate agent for NextHome Clinch Valley of Clinton.

Meredith, who is married to Rick Meredith, has eight grandchildren.

She volunteers as a mentor for the TN Achieves program, which helps high school students increase higher-education opportunities through scholarships.

She serves as an ambassador for the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton.

Meredith said she is proud to be a member of the board that serves Clinton City Schools.

“The Clinton City School Board is one of the best in the state of Tennessee,” she said.

For the past 10 years, the district has been a Level 5 school district, the highest level of academic growth designated by the Tennessee Department of Education, she said.

The district performs academically in the top 10% of districts across the state, she added.
