Anderson County Commission honors John Shuey

The Anderson County Commission at its Sept. 16 meeting honored the late John Shuey, who died Aug. 29. Commission Chairman Tyler Mayes, right, read and presented a resolution that honored Shuey in many roles: as an Anderson County commissioner for the Seventh District, representing Oak Ridge; as bailiff for Oak Ridge General Sessions Court; as an actor with the Oak Ridge Playhouse; as a summer-camp playground coach at Elm Grove School; as a player on community softball teams; and as a “son, brother, uncle and friend.” Commissioners voted unanimously to declare Oct. 22 John Shuey Day in Anderson County.
