CCS announces free, reduced-price meals for this school year
Clinton City Schools today announced its policy for free and reduced-price meals for children served in schools under the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program.
For school year 2024-2025, the schools will continue participation in the Community Eligibility Program.
All children at North Clinton Elementary School will receive breakfast and lunch at no charge under this program.
CEP is a key program of the Healthy, Hunger- Free Kids Act of 2010, which allows schools in low-income areas to eliminate school meal applications and serve breakfast and lunch at no charge to all enrolled students.
Breakfast and lunch meals will follow the U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals, so students are encouraged to participate.
Families at Clinton and South Clinton elementary schools are encouraged to submit free- and reduced-price meal applications to determine their eligibility for the program.
Children need healthy meals to learn, the school system said.
Clinton City Schools offers healthy meals every school day.
“In the operation of child feeding programs, no child will be discriminated against because of race, sex, color, national origin, age or disability,” the school system stated.
Regularly price for breakfast is $2.10, and lunch costs $3.20.
Children may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals.
The reduced price is 30 cents for breakfast and 40 cents for lunch.
