Lady Dragons soccer advances to Region 2-AA tournament

Clinton High School’s girls soccer team has qualified for the 2024 Region 2-AA Tournament.

The Lady Dragons defeated Union County 5-0 in the District 4-AA Tournament semifinal match Monday night at Clinton Football Stadium to advance to the District 4-AA Championship later this week against an opponent to be determined.

Clinton (10-3-1) is the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Top seed Anderson County hosted the other semifinal Tuesday night, but results were not available at press time.

Elly Leander scored a hat trick and added an assist for CHS. Sadie Haney scored twice and contributed an assist for the Lady Dragons. Topanga Easterday also had three assists in the semifinal match.

The Lady Dragons concluded their regular season with an 8-0 victory over Harriman during Senior Night early last week. Eight different players, all seniors, found the back of the net against the Lady Devils on Monday, Sept. 29.

Ashaunti Davis, Abby Hutchens, Addison Haney, Sadie Haney, Bailey Burroughs, Leander, Trinity Barnard, and Madison Lindsay all scored in the match against the Lady Devils. Leander also recorded six assists, while Hutchens added one.
