Senators dominate in postseason win
Despite missing the Tennessee Valley Athletic Conference playoffs, the Norris Middle School football team earned a postseason opportunity, and the Senators made the most of it.
Norris ended its 2024 campaign on a high note, winning its fifth game of the season by routing Lakeway Christian School 24-6 in a bowl game last Thursday night.
Senators quarterback Cooper Downs completed 9 of 13 passes for 207 yards in the postseason contest.
Offensive standouts included Coltyn Noe and Riley Miller, who each totaled more than 150 yards. Nash Pope and Ty Page also contributed offensively, helping Norris finish the season with a 5-3 record.
Defensively, the Senators’ linebackers delivered a stellar performance, as Noe, Miller, Hunter Wade, and Chris Garcia teamed up to stifle Lakeway Christian’s powerful running game.
“Our linebackers led the defense,” Norris Coach Richie Noe said. “Coltyn, Riley, Hunter Wade, and Chris Garcia shut down their 6-foot-1, 210-pound (Noe)running back.”
The defensive line, especially the ends, also had one of its best outings of the season.
“Our defensive ends, Isaac Vowell, Riley Kincaid, Josiah Arsenault, and Uriah Pickett, held their assignments and didn’t allow our opponents big running lanes. It was by far their best outing of the year,” Noe said.
With the eighth-graders from the 2024 squad moving on to high school, Noe expressed optimism about the future.
“We are excited to see these eighth-graders head to AC, and really excited for a team that returns a lot next year,” he said.
