Nursing company for OR plant workers opens

CNS Cares, an in-home nursing company for people who worked at Oak Ridge nuclear plants and their contractors, will have a ribbon-cutting and open house at its new office from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 575 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Suite 100, in Oak Ridge.

The office is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day, Monday through Friday.



Xander’s Place grand opening is Friday

A new nonprofit in Oak Ridge plans to help families of children with special needs.

Xander’s Place will have its grand opening at its office at 685 Emory Valley Road, Suite B, on Friday, Jan. 24.

“Our mission is to alleviate the burdens families face while navigating complex systems, and ensure every child has access to the support they need to thrive,” said Mindy Wilson, the nonprofit’s president.

“Xander’s Place acts as a hub, bridging gaps and fostering a sense of community for families who may feel overwhelmed or isolated,” she added.

She said the group does “personalized guidance” to help families figure out for which programs their children qualify.

Together Podemos opens

The nonprofit Together Podemos had its grand opening on Monday, Jan. 6, at 161 Robertsville Road, Suite D, Oak Ridge.

Olivia Cox, the group’s executive director, said its mission is “to promote Hispanic families’ “socioeconomic integration and well-being through education advocacy and civic engagement.”

The organization’s website (togetherpodemostn.org) and its Facebook page list coming workshop activities.

Among them are a workshop on personal finances at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, and English classes on Mondays from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. starting Feb. 3.
