Adkins to continue softball career at King

Clinton High School softball standout Lynnlee Adkins has announced her decision to continue her academic and athletic career at King University in Bristol.

Adkins, a catcher and first baseman for the Lady Dragons, will officially sign her national letter of intent during a ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Don W. Lockard Gymnasium. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

Adkins plans to major in exercise science with the goal of becoming a physical therapist.

She also considered Lincoln Memorial University and Lee University before selecting King. A visit to the Northeast Tennessee campus sealed the decision.

“I loved the campus,” Adkins said. “The girls on the team were wonderful, and I felt like I could connect with them.”

Adkins emphasized her desire to stay close to home so her parents, who have been instrumental in her athletic journey, can attend her games.

“This is about two hours away, and I had about a four-hour radius,” Adkins said. “I think it’s important for my parents to get a chance to see me play because they’ve put so much into this.”

King’s class sizes also played a role in her choice.

“The small classes appealed to me because I’ll be able to connect with the professor if I have any trouble,” Adkins said. “When I went to the campus, it just felt like home, and everything is within walking distance. And there’s a lot to do around it.”

Adkins looks forward to the next chapter of her academic and athletic career at King University.
