Entering freshmen at the University of Tennessee can get a chance to earn this scholarship, but only 15, including Cook, made it, Angela Merryman, director of College and Career Services for CHS, stated on Facebook.
The program focuses on leadership training and includes a fully funded study abroad and fully funded internship.
The program started in 2008, but Cook is the first from Anderson County Schools.
“We are so proud of all he has and will accomplish, but mostly proud of the kind of young man he is,” Merryman said. “May we all aspire to have the optimism, integrity, determination and faith that Keaton displays daily. Congratulations to Keaton, his parents Kevin and Shannon Cook, the staff of Clinton High, all those teachers who inspired Keaton through the years, and a school system (two systems actually, as he is a former Clinton City school student as well) that produces the kind of product that top universities desire and reward. Outstanding accomplishment for an amazing young man.” Merryman stated.
