Beaty chooses Roane State Community College

Easton Beaty is joined by family to celebrate his decision to continue his academic and athletic career at Roane State.
Easton Beaty will continue his baseball career at the collegiate level.

The Anderson County High School senior has committed to Roane State Community College, where he’ll pursue both academics and athletics.

He said that he had some other offers to play college baseball. He, however, knew that he wanted to play for the Raiders and head Coach Christopher C. Hamsley.

“Once I went to Roane State, I knew that was where I wanted to play,” Beaty said. “I had other offers, but I never seriously considered going anywhere else. I wanted to play for Coach Ham.

“Coach Ham does a great job developing players.”

Beaty plans to major in business, although he’s still uncertain about his long-term career path.

“I’ll probably go into the military if I don’t continue in baseball,” he said.

Roane State’s upgraded baseball facility also factored into his decision.

Beaty, a two-way player, will contribute as both a pitcher and a position player.

“They have a new stadium, and I love it,” he said. “It has deep fences, and I’m going to be a two-way player. It won’t be quite as easy for me to give up a home run.”

Though Roane State’s proximity to Anderson County wasn’t a deciding factor, Beaty said he appreciates the smaller class sizes the school offers.

“I like that,” he said. “Being close to home didn’t really matter. I just wanted to go somewhere I’d have a chance to eventually play Division I baseball. Coach Ham does a really good job developing players.”
