County Commission OKs funds for schools, families
The Anderson County Commission has approved spending money donated by Waste Management to help needy families in Oak Ridge and the Clinton High School band.
This is a regular occurrence, in whichWaste Management, the county’s waste-collecton contractor, chooses projects to help support.
The commission approved the funds at its March meeting.
Clinton High School Band requested and received funds for a Mac Mini, which can be used for music and audio editing and production, video editing, programming and more.
Also, the Jazzy Dragons, the high school band’s performance group, got funds for a portable PA system, allowing them to perform more easily in different settings. These projects total $1,500.
Commissioners also approved donating $2,133 to Oak Ridge High School’s Family Resource Center to help families with food, gasoline, emergency housing and utility costs.
