Oak Ridge (3-9 overall, 1-4 in District 3-4A) suffered shutout losses to Lenoir City, Knoxville Halls, Powell and Knoxville West in a frustrating stretch.
“We’re just not hitting the ball, and it was a frustrating week,” Oak Ridge Coach Jeremy Gill said. “It’s frustrating. Our four seniors are not hitting the ball.
“It was either weak ground balls or lazy fly balls, and when we did hit the ball hard, we hit it right at somebody,” he said.
“We’ve played pretty good defense and our pitching has been OK,” he said. “ We’re just not hitting the ball right now. And things aren’t going to get any easier for us.”
The Lady Wildcats opened the week with a 10-0 loss at Lenoir City.
Oak Ridge managed only five hits in that game. Amiyah King had two hits, while Taryn McGuire, Aliyah San Nicolas and Leah Curran each had one.
Against Powell on Tuesday, March 25, King was the lone Lady Wildcat to record a hit in an 18-0 district loss.
On Thursday, Oak Ridge dropped a 9-0 decision to Knoxville Halls. Morgan Perry had the team’s only hit.
The week ended with a 5-0 loss to West on Friday. Oak Ridge managed three hits in the contest — one each from Kaylee Hickman, Curran and King.
