Oak Ridge baseball clinches district share

It was a busy week on the diamond for the Oak Ridge High School baseball team.

The Wildcats played five games last week, winning four.

They opened the week with their final District 3-4A series of the 2025 regular season, and swept Karns to secure at least a share of the league title.

On Monday, April 14, Oak Ridge defeated the Beavers 7-2 on the road.

Wildcats leadoff hitter Warren East set the tone, scoring three runs and stealing four bases. Parker Free powered the offense, going 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, five RBIs and a run scored.

Left-hander Kam Welch started on the mound and pitched four innings. He allowed one run on three hits and two walks, while striking out 10.

Tryce Sharp threw the final three innings and earned a save. He gave up one run, two hits and two walks, while fanning two.

On Tuesday, April 15, Oak Ridge blanked Karns 11-0 in five innings at home behind a balanced offensive effort.

Noah Wood went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Cy Stephens was also 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs.

Peyton Witter added two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Free stayed hot, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Mikee Teasley tossed a one-hit shutout, walking one and striking out seven over five innings.

On Wednesday, April 16, Oak Ridge routed Greeneville 12-4 at home.

Richie Ferreira went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs and a run scored. Teasley doubled twice and scored three times. Witter also had two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored.

The Wildcats capped the week at the Tribe Classic hosted by Dobyns-Bennett in Kingsport.

On Friday, Oak Ridge defeated Science Hill 11-2, scoring five runs in the first inning and three more in the second.

East led the offensive onslaught, going 5-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs. Teasley was 2-for-5 with a double, a triple and a run scored. Ferreira tripled, drove in a run, scored and stole a base.

Oak Ridge saw its 12-game winning streak snapped Saturday in a 3-2 walk-off loss to Daniel Boone.

Ferreira had two hits, a run and an RBI. Welch doubled and drove in a run, while Teasley added an RBI single.
