Halloween wraps up on Friday, after more than a week of events
Halloween events have dominated throughout the area over the past week, and will culminate this Friday, Halloween night.
That will be the official neighborhood trick-or-treat date this year, with most neighborhoods participating throughout Anderson County.
Rocky Top will hold a Trunk or Treat event from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the George Templin Memorial Field.
Sponsored by several local churches, the Rocky Top event was organized by Zack Green, a former city councilman, and Jackie Byrge, children’s director at Rocky Top’s Main Street Baptist Church. Green is youth pastor at Andersonville First Baptist Church.
“People are welcome to come to participate in the trunk-or-treat, but they must set up before 5:30 p.m.,” Green said. “That’s for the safety of the kids who will be walking around during the event.”
Already over, but deemed a great success, is the Little Ponderosa Zoo and Wildlife Rescue’s “Trick or Treat at the Little Ponderosa,” which kicked off weekend before last, and concluded this past Friday and Saturday from 6-8 p.m.
Children, teens and even plenty of adults turned out dressed in some creative costumes for last Friday night’s session, which zoo co-director Cade Corbin said was busy, but not quite as busy as the previous weekend’s event.
On Saturday afternoon, SL Tennessee, the automotive parts manufacturer on Frank Diggs Drive in Clinton, held its annual Trunk or Treat event in front of the plant from 5-8 p.m.
Besides numerous stations set up in the parking lot to provide candy, there also were and inflatables for the kids.
Clinton’s big Halloween event came Sunday afternoon, as the city sponsored its annual Trick or Treat party at the Community Center from 2-5 p.m.
Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank, who was on hand both at the Little Ponderosa’s Trick or Treat sessions and at the Clinton Community Center on Sunday, said she enjoyed seeing everyone having “so much fun.”
“I’ve been attending the city of Clinton annual Halloween event since they began, and this year was the biggest crowd yet,” Frank said in a Facebook post on Sunday evening.
“Patrick and Brandi at Clinch River Tattoo went next level with an original booth creation, ‘Under the Sea,’ that was so incredible,” she said. “There were so many great exhibitors, a lot of candy, and all the smiles were so heartwarming. I was lucky enough to get some hugs, and some dog kisses, too.”
