Walmart celebrates $10M remodeling

The ribbon is cut to celebrate the completion of a $10 million renovation and upgrade project at the Clinton Walmart Supercenter on Friday morning in the front of the store, at 150 Tanner Lane.
Clinton city and Anderson County officials joined Walmart executives and team members Friday morning for a “grand re-opening” celebration for the just completed $10 million remodeling project at the Walmart Supercenter on Tanner Lane in Clinton

Walmart team members joined in the special recognition and ribbon-cutting event for the store’s makeover, which has been in progress since July.

Throughout the store, there are new displays and reorganized departments, with additional products in most of the departments.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony began at 8 a.m., and during the rest of the day, the store featured grand-opening specials, vendors, brand mascots and more.

During the ceremony, the store made donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee and the Norris Area Food Pantry.

Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank, who was on hand for the ceremony and made some remarks to the gathered crowd, praised Walmart for the remodeling work and its commitment to the community by investing in the upgrades.

“Congratulations to the team at Clinton Walmart Supercenter for the more than $10 million, approximately four-months-long renovation,” Frank posted on her Facebook page. “The upgrades look great — and I especially love the beautiful patriotic flags.”

There are American flags hanging from the ceiling throughout the store.

Customers are still finding their way around the store, as many of the departments have been moved to different areas.
