Meredith seeks District 2 commission seat

Ron Meredith
Meredith has been a resident of Clinton for more than 36 years and has been a familiar voice in the community since purchasing and operating WYSH Radio in 1990.
Through his daily morning program, Meredith has spent nearly four decades sharing local news, promoting community events and highlighting the people and organizations that make Anderson County strong.
Over the course of his broadcasting career, Meredith has built, owned and/or operated 12 broadcast facilities.
He also served as part owner and manager of Video Catalog Channel, a national television retail network that employed more than 100 employees, gaining extensive experience in business management, budgeting and financial operations.
He currently owns and operates WYSH AM 1380, FM 101.1, FM 99.5, Praise 96.3 WJBZ, 95.9 Rocks Classic Rock WQLA, and 96.7 Merle WMYL as president of Clinton Broadcasters Inc. and partner of M&M Broadcasting.
“Operating businesses and managing employees for many years has given me a strong understanding of budgeting, planning and financial responsibility,” Meredith said. “Those same principles should guide how we manage county government.”
Meredith has long been involved in civic leadership throughout the community.
He served on the Clinton Mayor’s Commission, helped lead the Clinton 21st Century initiative focused on long-range planning for the city, and chaired the Clinton Retail Task Force, which worked to strengthen the local retail economy and support business growth.
His community service also includes serving on the board of the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce, membership in Rotary International in Clinton, serving as a trustee at First Baptist Church Clinton, and participation in numerous other civic organizations.
Meredith’s leadership has also been recognized beyond the local level. He was invited by U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann to submit his name for consideration to serve on the board of the Tennessee Valley Authority, an opportunity he declined in order to remain focused on his business and community commitments.
“As county commissioner, I want to bring practical business experience, community involvement and common-sense leadership to Anderson County government,” Meredith said.
“My goal is to support economic development, ensure responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and help keep Anderson County a great place to live, work and raise a family.”
Meredith said he looks forward to meeting with residents across District 2 in the coming months to hear their ideas and concerns about the future of the community.
Meredith is married to Traci Meredith. Together, they have a blended family including three sons, Trey, Jacob and James David; two stepdaughters, Destini and Demi; and three step-grandchildren.
“I’ve spent my career talking with the people of this community and helping bring attention to the issues that matter most to them,” Meredith added. “Now I hope to represent them and help move Anderson County forward.”
