Dragons stay competitive through setbacks

Clinton (7-13 overall, 2-2 in District 4-AAA) opened the week by being swept in a two-game league series against crosstown rival Anderson County Mavericks.
The Dragons came up on the short end of an 8-0 decision against the Mavericks as Anderson County pitcher Wil Ridenour hurled a two-hit shutout. He went seven innings and finished his complete-game performance with seven strikeouts. He also singled in the contest.
Jackson Webb and Jaxon Young both singled for the Dragons, who were blanked at home on Monday, April 6.
The following day, the two rivals combined to score 19 runs as the Mavericks won, 12-7, at home.
Camden Britton had three hits for the Dragons. He also scored two runs and had a stolen base. JP Robbins singled, recorded three RBIs and scored a run for Clinton, which led 5-1 after the top of the second inning before the Mavericks scored seven runs in the bottom of the frame.
Webb collected a pair of hits while driving in one run and scoring another. Will Brooks scored a run and had a stolen base.
The Dragons returned home Friday night and fell to Seymour Eagles, 6-4, in a non-district tilt.
Peyton Douglas went deep for the Dragons, hitting a two-run home run against the Eagles to tie the game, 4-4, in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Seymour earned the victory by scoring two runs in the top of the seventh.
Webb and Britton each doubled and scored, while Brooks went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
