Basketball campers shine at Donnie Dome

The camp, which took place May 25-28 at Don W. Lockard Gymnasium, hosted 70 players.
During the event, they worked on fundamentals, competed in games, and participated in shooting contests under the direction of Lockard and his coaching staff.
The camp was open to players in grades 1-10.
“We worked on fundamentals, and we had game play and contests,” Lockard said. “We had another great Dragon Camp at the Donnie Dome.
“We had 70 campers, and the Dragon basketball team was working on teamwork, skill and loving the game,” Lockard said.
Several players were honored with individual awards on the final day of camp Thursday.
Free-throw champions included Deacon Whaley, Declan Farmer and Tucker Harmening.
Three-point champions were Matthew Taylor, Jaxson Sherwood and Mansa Mykail.
Hot-shot winners included Landyn Wagner, Mykail and Sherwood, who still holds the camp’s hot-shot scoring record.
Hustle awards went to Kooper Baylis, Brady Edwards and Kinsley Chin.
Jeremiah Love, Camdyn Holmes and Daxton Holmes were recognized as the camp’s best defensive players.
Mykail, Jace Brown and Kade Webb were the camp’s top offensive players.
Harmening, Sherwood and Kaysen Sliger won Most Valuable Player awards.
The Coach Chase Lockard Award went to Whaley, while the Coach Lockard Award went to Brown.
