Seven caregivers earn caring hearts honors

Seven caregivers from Anderson County received a “Caring Hearts” award from Alzheimer’s Tennessee.

They were Annabelle Blackburn, Courtyard Senior Living; Julia Diez, Senior Citizen Home Assistance; Gissellee Morgillo, Home Instead; Peggy Osborn, The Lantern at Morning Pointe; Priscilla Rodriguez, Alexander Guest House; Julie Young, Keystone Adult Day Program; and Pam Morgan, East Tennessee Human Resources Agency.

Alzheimer’s Tennessee asks senior communities and home health agencies in East Tennessee to nominate staff members who have provided outstanding care to those with cognitive impairment.

The organization honored 90 of these caregivers during a ceremony held May 21 in Knoxville.

“We know it takes special people to care for our loved ones who are facing memory loss,” Linda Johnson, director of programs for Alzheimer’s Tennessee, said in the release.

“We appreciate all these caregivers do on a personal and professional level each day. Our ‘Caring Hearts’ demonstrate the dedication it takes to support individuals and their families throughout the journey with Alzheimer’s and dementia.”
