Orr named new coach for Lady Dragons soccer

Anna Orr
Clinton High School will have a new girls soccer coach in 2026, and she’s already familiar with the Lady Dragons’ program.

Anna Orr was recently named to replace Sylvain David, who guided Clinton through a rebuilding season in 2025.

“I was at a lot of the games last year,” Orr said. “I do volunteer work for Young Life, and we go on to some of the high school campuses. I got a chance to know the girls through Young Life and through soccer.”

A South Carolina native, Orr played collegiate soccer at Erskine College, an NCAA Division II school. She and her husband, Zac, moved to Tennessee so she could attend graduate school at the University of Tennessee before relocating to Chicago for work.

“I’m from South Carolina, around Hilton Head,” Orr said. “My husband and I moved here so I could go to graduate school, then I got a job in Chicago.

“We hated the Midwest,” she said. “We just didn’t enjoy it, and we came back here.”

Soccer has been a lifelong passion for Orr.

“I grew up around soccer,” she said. “I’ve played the game since I was 3.”

Now, she’s eager to help guide the Lady Dragons.

“They’re a great group of girls, and the biggest thing we need to do is get everybody on the same page,” Orr said. “It’s important to win games, but we have to lay the foundation.”

Outside of coaching, Orr works as a physician’s assistant in an emergency room.

“Coaching soccer will go along with that job,” she said.

Although neither Orr nor her husband grew up here, both have embraced Tennessee since moving to the Volunteer State.

“I’m from South Carolina, and my husband is from Georgia, and neither of us came from football families,” she said. “So we’ve become bandwagon Tennessee fans.”

When they’re away from work and soccer, Anna and Zac Orr enjoy cycling and spending time outdoors.
