The Clinton City Council has approved its budget for the next fiscal year.

The budget passed unanimously, although City Council members David Queener and Brian Hatmaker were absent.

The city is spending the following amounts on different funds:

• $16,173,218 on General Fund, which includes public safety, public works, culture and recreation and industrial and community development among other categories.

The budget resolution lists capital outlay notes with debt redemption of $104,000, interest requirements of $10,325 and authorized and unissued debt of $1 million.

The budget also accounts for proposed capital projects, meaning expenses that don’t recur:

• $511,500 will go to education equipment and improvements from the General Purpose School Fund.
