Clinton Girls Softball wraps successful spring

The league serves players ages 4-14.
“We ended up (spring) registration in mid-March and we always try to finish the season by Memorial Day weekend,” Commissioner Charley Goins said. “We have tee-ball, coach pitch and kid pitch.”
The league offers multiple age divisions, with all games played on fields featuring 60-foot base paths.
“Everybody gets two at-bats and players get to touch every base, and we do that basically for our 4- and 5-year-olds,” Goins said. “With the older kids, we have 10 players on the field at a time.”
The league fielded four teams in the 6-under division and seven teams in the 8-under division.
The 10-under division featured two standout 9-year-old pitchers who consistently threw in the upper 40 mph to low 50 mph range.
“This was the first year that we had two kids [who] threw in the upper 40s and the lower 50s, and those kids dominated,” Goins said.
Clinton Girls Softball also offered an 11-14 age division.
Players came from Clinton, Norris, Lake City, NAGAF, Powell, Karns, Oak Ridge and Oliver Springs.
“Each team had 12 to 15 games,” Goins said. “When we get to 10-U, we play with regulation rules.”
The 2026 spring season concluded during the first week of June after rainouts delayed postseason tournament play.
Players celebrated the end of the season with a pool party.
League officials are now preparing for fall registration.
