GARY JOE OSBORNE

Gary Joe Osborne, 57, Clinton, went home to be with his Lord Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Dec. 3, 1962, in Oak Ridge to Charles “Jack” Osborne and Helen Elizabeth Elliott. Gary was a graduate of Clinton High School. He enjoyed landscaping, woodworking and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Gary also had a love of animals and always rescued or helped those in need.

He was preceded in death by: Grandparents, Charles Useful and Dessie Lorene Osborne and George and Edith Troutman Elliott Sr.

Survivors: Loving parents, Charles “Jack” and Helen Osborne of Clinton; sister, Tammy Crass and husband Dana of Kingston; ex-wife, Julie Osborne of Clinton; stepchildren, Ashley Wesley of Oak Ridge, Devin Rainwater of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Izaiah Ladner, Skyler Ladner and Aliyah Ladner; niece, Heather Born of Philadelphia; several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and special friends.

The family held a graveside service at noon Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020, at Woodhaven Memorial Garden in Powell with Cleo Elliott officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Anderson County Animal Shelter at 100 North main Street, Suite 127, Clinton, TN 37716.

CHARLES WILLIAM GROOVER

Charles William Groover, the son of Mildred McLeod Groover and John M. Groover Sr., passed away Jan. 31, 2020, at the age of 93.

His wife, Phyllis Davis Groover and beloved daughter, Cathy Groover Lawless, preceded him in death. Brothers John and Henry (Charlsie) passed away earlier.

Charles grew up in the economically depressed period of the 1930’s on a farm in Madison County, Fla. He loved sports. He graduated from high school in 1944. He was a member of the University of Florida football team before departing for Germany in the U.S. Army during World War II in 1944. After leaving the Army, Charles was credit manager at Sears Roebuck & Co., Selma, Ala. He then returned to college and graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1951 with a degree in business administration. Charles was employed in security management at the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge from 1951 until retiring in 1984.

He coached Clinton Optimist football, basketball and baseball for 15 years, and was an active member of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church for much of his adult life.

He is survived by: Children, Gary (Sayona), Greg, and Mark (Melanie); son-in-law, Wayne Lawless; grandchildren, Courtney (Kevin) Hunt, Tyler (fiancée Valerie) Hodge, Mattie (Trey) Shoemaker, Alex Lawless, Emily Lawless, Anna Groover, Nick Groover, and Mary Groover; great-grandchildren, Ethan Hunt, Wyatt Hodge, Caleb Wolfe, Olivia Hodge, and LillyAnn Shoemaker; and many other beloved relatives including sister-in-law, Janice (Bud) Rogers, nieces and nephews and cousins including his and his wife’s side of the family.

Charles wants to sincerely thank many people, family members, Clinton Optimist Club, all the Optimist youth, and medical personnel who helped him live a wonderful life. Charles believed in God and the Creation, his family, country and humanity. He hoped to see everyone again including his beloved pets.

Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements and private services will be scheduled at a later date.

BRIAN WALLACE

Brian Wallace, 70, Clinton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at his residence.

Brian was a member of Clinton First Baptist Church and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee. He worked at K-25 and later retired from ORNL. Brian loved going to Fox Toyota in Clinton and spending time with the Fox Family and their employees and also eating at Sami’s Café in Knoxville with his favorite lunch bunch. Throughout his life he enjoyed photography, biking, hiking, Indy and NASCAR racing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Wallace.

He is survived by: Mother, Elizabeth Wallace of Clinton; brother, Bob Wallace of Clinton; sister, Jan Wallace Shields and husband Don of Hagerstown, Md.; nieces, Sarah Shields-Perez and husband Felix and Katie Barteaux and husband Jon; nephews, Patrick Baker and wife Hollie, Robert Baker, and Charlie Shields and wife Angela; friend, Janie Sharp and her family.

The family would like to thank PCM Nursing Staff and Doug and Kim Smelcer for the loving care and friendship given to Brian.

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.

His graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at Grandview Memorial Garden.

WANDA CRAIG SEIBER

On Jan. 29, 2020, Wanda Craig Seiber left this earth and began celebrating with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was 93 years old.

Wanda will be forever remembered by: Dedicated and loving husband, Kenneth; son, Larry; daughters, Karen Holstine (Mike), Tammy Sharp (Derek), and Vicki Seiber; nine grandchildren, Jordan Fraley, Cody Hostine, Connor Osborne, Cheyenne Barber, Thomas Sharp (Kerstin), Rebecca Harmon (Alec), Sara Humphrey (Jeremey), Bre Scott (Brad), Blake Bingham (Brittany); and seven great-grandchildren.

Wanda was preceded in death by: Parents, Linnie and Mattie Craig; sisters, Joan Rutherford, and Lila Towe; brothers, Roane Craig, Colon Craig, and Quentin Craig.

Wanda was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church in Lake City, and served there faithfully for many years.

Wanda worked for Union Carbide as a materials clerk at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant, K-25. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden, cooking for her family, and hanging out at the swimming pool to ensure her children knew how to swim. She would make the favorite meal of each of her children every year on their birthday. Wanda will be missed by her family and friends.

Graveside service and burial were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2019, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.

ERMA LEE PIKE

Erma Lee Pike, 95, Clinton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at the Waters of Clinton.

Erma was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and retired from K-25. Before she worked at K-25 she was a school teacher in Bell County, Ky. Her love of her life was her great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: Husband, Crawford Pike; parents, William and Bertha Woods; brother, Herbert Woods of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter, Rebecca Rose.

She is survived by: Grandchildren, Shaun Rose and Tony Bates of Louisville, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Cregg Taylor and wife Chelsie of Clinton, Krysta Taylor of Clinton, and Tripp Bates of Louisville, Ky.; great-great-grandchildren, Lakelee, Kaysen, Maysen and Everly Taylor, Jason, Bryson, and Tyson Wrather; son-in-law, Scott Rose of Virginia.

The family received friends from 1 – 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel.

Her burial was at noon Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Norris Memorial Garden.

MICHAELA 'SHAYLA' LYNN (CRAWFORD) BUCKNER

Michaela “Shayla” Lynn (Crawford) Buckner, 30, Briceville, passed away unexpectedly at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville Jan. 29, 2020.

She was involved in a tragic car accident. Shayla always wanted to help others if she was able. In passing, she was able to save five lives by giving her organs to others who needed them.

Shayla was preceded in death by: Grandparents, Frank and Nadine Lowe, Euvene and Willie “Buddy” Randolph, ArMatha Lowe, all from Graves Gap Mountain.

Shayla is survived by: Husband, Michael Buckner of Newport; daughters, Allie and Ashton of Newport; mother, Darlene Crain; father, Jason Crawford; sisters, Megan, Kristan, Katelin, Myla; and brother, Evan; nieces, Bella, Brooklyn, Novaleigh, and Bayleigh; nephews, Eli and Dakota; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all loved her.

Visitation was held from 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Premier Sharp Funeral Home.

She lie in state from 1 -2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020, at Graves Gap Baptist Church.

Funeral service began at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jason Goins and Larry Hamblin officiating. Graveside immediately followed the funeral service at Graves Gap Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Buckner, Josh Lowe, Cody Lowe, Will Randolph, Matthew Smith, Chase Hamblen, Evan Randolph, and Logan Jobe.

CLIFTON HOWARD SEXTON

Clifton Howard Sexton, 45, Lake City, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at his residence.

Clifton was born Nov. 22, 1974, in Oak Ridge. Clifton was a truck driver. Clifton loved Harley bikes, motorcycles, driving semi-trucks over the world, playing guitar, and fire arms. He loved to ride and once road with the Heavenly Saints.

Clifton was preceded in death by: Father, Thomas Ray Sexton; grandmothers, Anna Belle Massey and Lucile Sexton; grandpa, Howard Sexton; uncles, Jamesly Sexton, Charles Sexton, Loran White; aunts, Betty Foster, Rosa Lee Sexton; cousins, Sheila Webb, Saraya Webb; and nephew, Braxton Oneal.

Survivors: Mother, Norma Jean Jackson of Lake City; sons, Logan Sexton of Clinton, Anthony Sexton of Powell; daughters, Desaray Sexton of Powell, Madison Ann Sexton, Emma-Leigh Sexton; brothers, Quentheny "Quincy" Sexton and Abbra of Lake City, Curtis Massey and Brenda Wilson of Lake City; sisters, Angela Renee Davis of Lake City, La Sha Danielle Jackson and Carl Oneal of Caryville; nephews, Quenthon Thomas Sexton, Aiden Oneal, Quenthony Ray Sexton, Thomas Ray Sexton and Zachary Massey; nieces, Anna Grace Oneal and Hannah Massey; cousins, Rodney Sexton and wife Renee of Jacksboro, Jamie and Johnathon Sexton of Jacksboro, Brian Sexton of Scott County, Linda Sexton Bowling of Scott County, Renita Rae Sexton Blevins of Scott County, Ann Sexton of Scott County, Cynthia Sexton Ford of Scott County; dearest closest best friend, Jimmy Mowery.

Visitation was from 1 -3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.

Funeral service was at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating.

Interment followed the funeral service at the Leach Cemetery in Lake City.

ALICE FAYE (SIMS) BROUGHTON

In loving memory of Alice Faye (Sims) Broughton who passed away Jan. 24, 2020.

Alice was an organ donor and gave the gift of sight through Sightlife.

Alice is survived by: Loving husband, Ron, of 54 years; brother-in-law, Wally Broughton and his wife Toni; nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, Thor, Felicia, Zoe, Adam, Chelsea and Keith; extended family and many special cousins in Tennessee.

Alice was born on Dec. 17, 1944, to the late Leroy and Dorthy Sims in Clinton, where she grew up and attended college at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Ron and Alice met on a blind date in Memphis in December of 1962 while Ron was in the military. They married on April 11, 1965, and moved to Sultan, Wash., in 1966. Alice worked as a dental hygienist in Monroe, Wash., for 42 years. Alice was an avid Tennessee Titans and Seahawks fan, and she and Ron watched 53 Super Bowls together.

For many years, Alice traveled on her own 750 Honda motorcycle with Ron, family, and friends. Alice loved and enjoyed traveling with Ron to Tennessee many times a year to see her relatives and friends, Brenda and Ed Miller, Carl and Deb Harless, Aunt Erma Lee Hill, Uncle Carl Harless, Hillard and Lisen Harless, Joyce and Don Wood, Juanita and Roger Melton, Ken and Janet Hill, Linda and Curtis Vowell, Von and Linda Harless, Dick Swanson and Marylou Johnson. Alice’s hobbies were visiting wineries with Ron, playing Keno, and volunteering at the Food Bank in Westport, Wash.

Alice’s Celebration of Life will be held from 2 – 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, at 603 7th Street in Sultan, Wash.
