DOW ALLISON BURTON

Dow Allison Burton, 88, Clinton, passed away surrounded by his family, Saturday, June 15, 2019.
He was born May 14, 1931, in Ensor Hollow, Gentry, Tenn., the youngest son of Alec and Jenny Burton. Dow graduated from Baxter Seminary and enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 serving as a C130 crew chief during the Korean War. After being discharged, he came to Oak Ridge to work for South Central Bell and retired from AT&T with 40 years of service.
Dow is survived by: Wife, Peggy (Alcorn) of 64 years.
They have three children: Laura (John) Kramer, Barry (Robin) Burton, and Scott (Tracy) Burton. They also have eight grandchildren: Allison Kramer, Travis Burton, Nick Burton, Mark Kramer, Alex Burton, Katherine Burton, Lauren Burton, and Sarah Burton.
He is also survived by sister-in-law, Maxine Burton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: Parents; brother, Sam Burton; and sisters, Virginia Maggart and Ruth Petretzky.
He enjoyed gardening, Norris Lake, Sudoku puzzles, and spending time with his family.
The family will be receiving friends from noon – 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Memorial United Methodist Church of Clinton, with the funeral immediately following at 2 p.m.
Graveside service will be at Grandview Cemetery of Clinton following the service. I

KENNETH ‘GLENN’ LONG SR.

Kenneth “Glenn” Long Sr., 86, Heiskell, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019, at home in Hickory Valley.
He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He loved gardening, riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Most of all, he loved Jesus. Glenn retired from Johnson Controls in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lossen Long and Bonnie Coker Long.
He is survived by: Wife, Patricia L. Long; children, Kenneth G. Long Jr., Glenda Coffin, Debbie Duggan, Gail Roberts, and Mark Long; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – noon Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Celebration of Life to follow at noon with the Rev. Thomas Aiken officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

CHARLES ‘JASON’ RAMSEY

Charles “Jason” Ramsey went to his eternal home June 13, 2019.
He was preceeded in death by: Sister, Malinda Gail Ramsey; father, Charles Jimmy Ramsey; grandparents, Fuller and Jean Ramsey and John and Zella Johnson; uncle, Tommy Ramsey; and, aunt Christeen Holt.
He is survived by: Wife, Shannon Crawford Ramsey; mother, Marjorie Ramsey; aunt, Odean Allison; uncle, Arnold Johnson; father in-law, Dewey Crawford; mother in-law; Candi Crawford; sister-in-law, Staci Edwards; brother-in-law ,Eric Edwards; nephew. Brady Edwards; niece, Brinley Edwards; several cousins, and a host of friends.
He also leaves behind his puppy, Linus, cockatiel, Sullivan, and fish, Gilbert.
Jason was a proud Tennessee Volunteer, receiving his Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Political Science, and Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Policy Analysis from the University of Tennessee. He dedicated 15 years to public service through TennCare.
For the past five years, Jason has been living his love story with his wife, Shannon. Even through the toughest of times, they shared a love for humor and could always make each other laugh.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Jason’s memory on June 29, 2019, at South Clinton Baptist Church in Clinton. The family will be receiving friends from 5-7 p.m., with a service starting at 7 p.m.
Graveside services will be held inside the church at 2 p.m. June 30, 2019, at Centerview Baptist Church, 2251 Highway 160, Newport.
He will be having a memorial service in Nashville given by his friends and former coworkers TBA.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

KERMIT GERALD BYRD

Kermit Gerald Byrd, 91, Lake City, passed away peacefully June 12, 2019, at his residence.
Kermit was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Scott County to the late Mark and Lydia Sharp Byrd. He was of the Baptist faith, and a member of Main Street Baptist Church. He loved gardening, was a jack of all trades, was a hard worker, and loved to spend time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Kermit was preceded in death by: Wife, Louise Byrd; brother, Donovan; and sisters, Naomi Foust and Macel Kesterson.
Survivors: Son, Alan Byrd (Pam) of Clinton; daughters, Sondra Herrin (Morris) of Lake City, Brenda Pangle of Decator, Ala., Barbara Arrowood (Tom) of Powell; sister, Trelis Stephens of Oliver Springs; seven grandchildren ; eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from noon – 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019, at the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating.
Interment followed the funeral service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City, Saturday June 15, 2019.
HARRY EDWARD DUGGAN

Harry Edward Duggan, 54, Heiskell, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 8, 2019, at his home in Heiskell.
Harry was known to be a caring and loving friend, father, brother, and son. He treated everyone the same, giving the same amount of respect and love to any one he had met. He would do anything for anyone out of the love and kindness of his heart.
Harry was preceded in death by his father, Harold Lawrence Duggan.
Harry is survived by: Mother, Mary Wilson of Heiskell; three sons, Jeffrey Hammond Duggan and wife Vickie of Columbus, Robert Duggan and wife Katrina of Indiana, Jeremy Lynn Duggan of Houston, Texas; daughter, Krystal Dawn Ware of Seymour; sister, Tammy Dockins, of Heiskell; along with his grandchildren Elijah, Waylon, and Jacob Ware, Brody and Gunnar Duggan.
Harry’s family will have a celebration of life for him at a later date.

GEORGIA ANN BROWN PHILLIPS

Georgia Ann Brown Phillips, 83, Powell, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, June 7, 2019.
She was a graduate of Lake City High School, a beautician, homemaker, and a country/gospel singer. Georgia and her sister were known as the “Brown Sisters” and sung in many local venues and churches around Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and North Carolina in the 1960’s. In the late 50’s and early 60’s the Brown Sisters played many times on the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree in Nashville. She was a member of Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church in Clinton. A loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family, who will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by: Father, Elmer Brown and mother, Josephine Brown; brother, Elmer Brown Jr.; and sister, Annette Jo Goins.
Georgia is survived by: Loving husband of 53 years together, J.B. Phillips; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Denver Scalf III; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Renee Phillip; granddaughter, Madison Scalf; grandsons, Bryson Scalf, Tyler Phillips, and Carson Phillips; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Georgia’s family received her friends from 6 – 8 p.m., with her funeral service following at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019, in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with the Rev. Mack Smith officiating.
Her interment was at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church cemetery in Clinton.
Jones Mortuary in Clinton was in charge of all arrangements.
MARY CAROLL WEAVER SINGLETON

Mary Carroll Weaver Singleton, 90, Lake City, away June 5, 2019, at her residence.
Mary was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Anderson County to the late Earl Hendrix and Rose Kathryn Bullock Hendrix. She was a member of Island Ford Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, loved watching tv, especially Hallmark and soap operas, flowers, Bible word searches, and coloring. She was a caregiver to many people.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by: Husbands, Paul Weaver and Lawrence Singleton; sons, Garry Weaver and Danny Weaver; and granddaughter, Danielle Braden.
Survivors: Daughters, Paulette Bartholomew and husband Ronnie of Glendale, Ariz., Deborah Hicks and husband Mike of Jacksboro; sons, Jerry Weaver and wife Janie of Green Springs, Ohio, Darrell Weaver and wife Judy of Clinton; special cousin, Clara (Tootsie) Devoe and husband Rex; special friend and neighbor, Ronnie Elmore.

Martha Jeannette Triplett, 91, Clinton, passed away at her residence Sunday, June 2, 2019.
Martha was a member of Island Home Baptist Church. Throughout her life she enjoyed sewing, cooking, working in the flower garden but most of all spending time with her family.
Martha was preceded in death by: Parents, Wilton and Mary Hopkins; sisters, Marlene Leffew, Geneve Wilburn, and Lois Newman; brother, Dewane Hopkins.
She is survived by: Loving husband of 47 years, Tom Triplett; son, Jerry Stevens and wife Gail; daughter, Sheila Cox; grandchildren, Lori Ellen Stevens, Kevin Jeremy Stevens and wife Janine; great-grandchildren, Rachel Stevens Schubert, Hannah Blue Christman; step-grandchildren, Jake and Teagan Hammond; loving furry companion, Max; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.
