ELZIE MAE PATTERSON

Elzie Mae Patterson, 91, Lake City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at her residence.

Elzie was born in Devonia on July 12, 1928, to the late Albert and Mallie Galbrith Seiber. Elzie was the oldest and a founding member of Anchor of Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Albert and Mallie Seiber; husband, Calvin Coolidge Patterson; sisters, Mary J. Seiber, Elizabeth Rutherford, Rosia Lee Shepherd; brothers, Nelson Seiber and George Smith; and son, Calvin Kent Patterson.

Elzie was loved by all.

Survivors: Sons, Terry and Joyce Patterson of Clinton, Ted and Rosie Patterson of Clinton, Taffie Patterson of Cleveland, Ohio, George and Sally Patterson of Geneva Lake, Ohio; daughters, Sue and Robert Bunch of Sunbright, Anne and Mike Ruiz of Clinton, Jackie and David Kern of Orwell, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nine great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at Hatmaker Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Josh Hawkins officiating.

Family and friends will meet at noon Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, at Galbrith Cemetery in the Marlow Community in Clinton for Elzie’s graveside service.

HOWARD BRUCE HARMON

Howard Bruce Harmon, 82, Clinton, went to his heavenly home on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020.

He was a member at Clinch River Baptist Church, and was a welder by trade.

Preceded in death by: Parents, Howard and Lassie Harmon; son, Randall Bruce Harmon; in-laws, Earl and Louise Turner.

Survived by: Wife of 62 years, Bobbie Harmon; son, Billy (Julie) Harmon; brother, Charles (Joyce) Harmon; grandchildren, Dustin (Michelle) Norman, Brandon Harmon, Lindsey (Chris) Buckner, and Miranda (Ryan) Spivey; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; niece, Kim (Jason) Moore; nephews, David (April) Harmon, Mike and Tim Padgett; sister-in-law, Jodie Turner.

Special thanks to Jodie, Tammy Braden, Mike and family for their ongoing support and care of Bruce and Bobbie.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at Clinch River Baptist Church in Lake City. The Funeral Service will follow visitation at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at Clinch River Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Byrge, the Rev. Darryl Arender, the Rev. Larry Webster and the the Rev. Toby Downey. The Interment will be held at noon Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City.

BILLY RAY BOSHEARS

Billy Ray Boshears, born Sept. 18, 1956, went home to be with the Lord Feb. 3, 2020.

He was a faithful member at Bryams Fork Baptist Church. He served and loved the Lord with all his heart and left this world with a great testimony. He was a dedicated nurse for more than 25 years at Summitt View of Lake City, where he ran their Alzheimer’s Unit (Greenbriar). He also received the Caring Hearts Award from Alzheimer’s Inc.

He was preceded in death by: Father, Charles William Boshears; and brother, Frank Boshears.

Billy is survived by: Two loving daughters, Mary Ridenour and husband Jason, Jennifer Collins and husband Junior; four grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Hanna Ridenour, Daniel Collins, Savannah Collins and Jacob Ridenour; mother, Anna Belle Boshears; and sister, Martha Braden and husband Gary; a host of nieces and nephews; and his special little dog, Sparkles, who never left his side.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Copeland and the Rev. Justin Howard officiating.

GARY JOE OSBORNE

Gary Joe Osborne, 57, Clinton, went home to be with his Lord Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Dec. 3, 1962, in Oak Ridge to Charles “Jack” Osborne and Helen Elizabeth Elliott. Gary was a graduate of Clinton High School. He enjoyed landscaping, woodworking and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Gary also had a love of animals and always rescued or helped those in need.

He was preceded in death by: Grandparents, Charles Useful and Dessie Lorene Osborne and George and Edith Troutman Elliott Sr.

Survivors: Loving parents, Charles “Jack” and Helen Osborne of Clinton; sister, Tammy Crass and husband Dana of Kingston; ex-wife, Julie Osborne of Clinton; stepchildren, Ashley Wesley of Oak Ridge, Devin Rainwater of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Izaiah Ladner, Skyler Ladner and Aliyah Ladner; niece, Heather Born of Philadelphia; several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and special friends.

The family held a graveside service at noon Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020, at Woodhaven Memorial Garden in Powell with Cleo Elliott officiating.

CHARLES WILLIAM GROOVER

Charles William Groover, the son of Mildred McLeod Groover and John M. Groover Sr., passed away Jan. 31, 2020, at the age of 93.

His wife, Phyllis Davis Groover and beloved daughter, Cathy Groover Lawless, preceded him in death. Brothers John and Henry (Charlsie) passed away earlier.

Charles grew up in the economically depressed period of the 1930’s on a farm in Madison County, Fla. He loved sports. He graduated from high school in 1944. He was a member of the University of Florida football team before departing for Germany in the U.S. Army during World War II in 1944. After leaving the Army, Charles was credit manager at Sears Roebuck & Co., Selma, Ala. He then returned to college and graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1951 with a degree in business administration. Charles was employed in security management at the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge from 1951 until retiring in 1984.

He coached Clinton Optimist football, basketball and baseball for 15 years, and was an active member of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church for much of his adult life.

He is survived by: Children, Gary (Sayona), Greg, and Mark (Melanie); son-in-law, Wayne Lawless; grandchildren, Courtney (Kevin) Hunt, Tyler (fiancée Valerie) Hodge, Mattie (Trey) Shoemaker, Alex Lawless, Emily Lawless, Anna Groover, Nick Groover, and Mary Groover; great-grandchildren, Ethan Hunt, Wyatt Hodge, Caleb Wolfe, Olivia Hodge, and LillyAnn Shoemaker; and many other beloved relatives including sister-in-law, Janice (Bud) Rogers, nieces and nephews and cousins including his and his wife’s side of the family.

Charles wants to sincerely thank many people, family members, Clinton Optimist Club, all the Optimist youth, and medical personnel who helped him live a wonderful life. Charles believed in God and the Creation, his family, country and humanity. He hoped to see everyone again including his beloved pets.

Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements and private services will be scheduled at a later date.

BRIAN WALLACE

Brian Wallace, 70, Clinton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at his residence.

Brian was a member of Clinton First Baptist Church and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee. He worked at K-25 and later retired from ORNL. Brian loved going to Fox Toyota in Clinton and spending time with the Fox Family and their employees and also eating at Sami’s Café in Knoxville with his favorite lunch bunch. Throughout his life he enjoyed photography, biking, hiking, Indy and NASCAR racing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Wallace.

He is survived by: Mother, Elizabeth Wallace of Clinton; brother, Bob Wallace of Clinton; sister, Jan Wallace Shields and husband Don of Hagerstown, Md.; nieces, Sarah Shields-Perez and husband Felix and Katie Barteaux and husband Jon; nephews, Patrick Baker and wife Hollie, Robert Baker, and Charlie Shields and wife Angela; friend, Janie Sharp and her family.

The family would like to thank PCM Nursing Staff and Doug and Kim Smelcer for the loving care and friendship given to Brian.

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.

His graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at Grandview Memorial Garden.

WANDA CRAIG SEIBER

On Jan. 29, 2020, Wanda Craig Seiber left this earth and began celebrating with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was 93 years old.

Wanda will be forever remembered by: Dedicated and loving husband, Kenneth; son, Larry; daughters, Karen Holstine (Mike), Tammy Sharp (Derek), and Vicki Seiber; nine grandchildren, Jordan Fraley, Cody Hostine, Connor Osborne, Cheyenne Barber, Thomas Sharp (Kerstin), Rebecca Harmon (Alec), Sara Humphrey (Jeremey), Bre Scott (Brad), Blake Bingham (Brittany); and seven great-grandchildren.

Wanda was preceded in death by: Parents, Linnie and Mattie Craig; sisters, Joan Rutherford, and Lila Towe; brothers, Roane Craig, Colon Craig, and Quentin Craig.

Wanda was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church in Lake City, and served there faithfully for many years.

Wanda worked for Union Carbide as a materials clerk at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant, K-25. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden, cooking for her family, and hanging out at the swimming pool to ensure her children knew how to swim. She would make the favorite meal of each of her children every year on their birthday. Wanda will be missed by her family and friends.

Graveside service and burial were at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2019, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.

ERMA LEE PIKE

Erma Lee Pike, 95, Clinton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at the Waters of Clinton.

Erma was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and retired from K-25. Before she worked at K-25 she was a school teacher in Bell County, Ky. Her love of her life was her great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: Husband, Crawford Pike; parents, William and Bertha Woods; brother, Herbert Woods of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter, Rebecca Rose.

She is survived by: Grandchildren, Shaun Rose and Tony Bates of Louisville, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Cregg Taylor and wife Chelsie of Clinton, Krysta Taylor of Clinton, and Tripp Bates of Louisville, Ky.; great-great-grandchildren, Lakelee, Kaysen, Maysen and Everly Taylor, Jason, Bryson, and Tyson Wrather; son-in-law, Scott Rose of Virginia.

The family received friends from 1 – 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel.

Her burial was at noon Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Norris Memorial Garden.
