JUANITA SUE SIMPSON

Juanita Sue Simpson, 76, Powell, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017, at her home.

She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lora loved the outdoors, camping, the lake, mountains, and horses. She loved the Lord and was a member of First Apostolic Church in Knoxville, where she worked as a custodian for many years at the Christian School.

Juanita was preceded in death by: Parents, Charles King Sr. and Virginia; daughter, Linda Simpson-Childress; sisters, Rosetta Ness, and Patsy Wilkerson.

Juanita is survived by: Husband of 59 years, Robert Simpson of Powell; son, Robbie Simpson of Powell; daughters, Betty Pierce and James of Powell, Patty Korfhage and Doug of Louisville, Ky., Debbie Simpson of Knoxville, and Misty Brock-Surprenant; brothers, Donny King and Bonnie, and Charles King Jr.. all of Kentucky; sisters, Delores Phillips, Joyce King, Dorothy Wilkerson and J.D., and Sharon Ehresman, all of Kentucky; six grandchildren;12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Juanita’s family received her friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, with her celebration of life following at 1 p.m. at First Apostolic Church in Knoxville, with Bishop Billy McCool, Brother Anthony McCool in honor of his dad Pastor Mark McCool, and Brent Simpson officiating.

Juanita’s interment followed her celebration of life at Edgewood Cemetery in Knoxville.

LORA LEA SHEPHERD

Lora Lea Shepherd, 53, Heiskell, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at North Knox Medical Center in Powell.

Lora was a wonderful loving wife and mother. She loved animals, weddings, and being outdoors and being out with people at various places. Lora had three dogs that were her babies and loved dearly Lily, Zoe and Penny. Lora was a member of Calvary Baptist in Oak Ridge.

Lora was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Cordie (Lewis) Brown.

Lora is survived by: Husband, Richard Shepherd, Heiskell; daughter, Elizabeth Brown, Rocky Top; brother Harold Dean Brown Heiskell; sister, sisters Joyce and Harold Jennings, Linda Vickers, Sharon Cook, all of Dayton, Ohio.

Lora’s family received her friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, with her funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Bro. Steve McDonald and Bro. Jimbo Duncan officiating. Lora’s interment was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton.

CHARLINE BUNCH SEIBER

Charline Bunch Seiber, 80, born in Anderson County Feb. 17, 1937, to Buddy and Lola Phillips Bunch, died Saturday, April 29, 2017.

Preceded in death by: Parents; daughter, Kathy; son, Danny; brothers, Endmon, Walter, Earl, David and Wiley.

She is survived by: Husband of 62 years, Robert; sons, Robbie and wife April, Denver and wife Rose; grandchildren, Senta Seiber, Sasha Seiber, and Stone Seiber; great-grandchildren, Will, Bella, Jada, Hayden, Mason, and Tyson; sister, Pauline and husband Manson Green; brothers, Glen and wife Pauline, Ed and wife Angie, Ted and wife Theresa, Thomas and wife Kathy, all of Tennessee; Clarence and wife Mary Lyndon, both of Ohio.

The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017, with services following at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor David Seiber and Pastor Wayne Phillips officiating.

The family met at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, and proceeded to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery for interment at 11 a.m.

Serving as pallbearers: Rob Seiber, Stone Seiber, Jeremy Seiber, Frank Bouton, John Alvis and Denver Bunch.

MARSHAL ALLEN PINSLY

Marshal Allen Pinsly, 23 Blaine, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017, in Clinton.

He loved his family, and being a dad. Marshal enjoyed fishing and cars.

Marshal is survived by: Wife, Crystal Pinsly of Blaine; father, Mark Allen Pinsly of Grainger County; mother and stepfather, Angela and Stephen Hamner of Andersonville; sons, Samuel Myers and Blake Myers, both of Grainger County; daughters, Gracie Myers of Grainger County, Avery Jones of Anderson County, and Eleanor Pinsly of Grainger County; stepbrother, Stephen Hamner Jr. and Jen of Pennsylvania; sisters, April Davis of Andersonville, and stepsister, Leah Reinhardt and Richard of Pennsylvania; grandparents, Clint Flatford, Louise Meredith and Glen, all of Andersonville, and Wanda Pinsly of Lenoir City; and a host of other relatives and friends.

KAREN NOLAN

Karen Nolan, 49, Knoxville, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017, at her home.

She was a loving mother, and grandmother. Karen was a kind and loving person to all.

Karen was preceded in death by: Parents, Ed and Bertha Nolan; brother, Edwin J. Nolan; and sister-in-law, Maravic Nolan; best friend, Rebecca Herrell.

She is survived by: Sons, Matthew Bradley Cooper and wife Jessica of Knoxville, Tyler Jacob Scarbrough of Knoxville; daughters, Whitney Dawn Cooper of Knoxville, and Taylor Kaitlyn Scarbrough; brother, Ricky Seeber and wife Gena of Ohio; sisters, Ruby Ward and husband Jack of Oliver Springs, and Debbie Simmons and husband Robert of Clinton; grandchildren, Myiah Cooper, Kylie Brook Presley, Emma ‘Kate Serenity Presley; close family friends, Nikkii Sutton, Jacob Lusby; and a host of other relatives and friends.

DONALD LYNN (DUCK) MILLER

Donald Lynn (Duck) Miller, 69, Clinton, formerly of Halls Crossroads, passed away Thursday May 4, 2017.

Duck loved his children and grandchildren with all of his heart, and he really loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Preceded in death by: Father, Arlanda R. Miller.

Survived by: Former wife, Peggy Ridenour Turpin and her husband, and Ducks good friend, Steve Turpin; children, Sherrie Ashmore (Lee) of Clinton, and Tammy Whittaker (Scott) of Maryville; grandchildren, Brandi Allen and Alia Ashmore and Derek and Noah Jones; mother, Lucy (Ellis) Miller of Halls; brother, Dennis Miller (Jean) of Halls; sisters, Shelia Abbott (Steve) of Halls, and Jewell Anderson (Steve) of Halls; lots of cousins, nieces and nephews.

MARY RUTH BALL

Mary Ruth Ball, 89, Clinton, went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 1, 2017, at Autumn Care Assisted Living.

She retired as an accounting supervisor at K-25 Federal Credit Union after 22 years of service. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading books, bird watching, gardening, yard work, but most of all spending time with her family.

Mary was preceded in death by: Husband, William F. Ball Jr.; father, Robert Fox; mother, Hattie Davis; stepfather, Floyd Davis; sisters, Betty Young and Maxine Arango; brothers, Wayne Davis and Bunt Davis.

She is survived by: Son, William “Tony” Ball and wife Bobbie of Clinton; sisters, Almeda “Pink” Helton of Greenback, Rhea Evelyn Patterson of Maryville; grandchildren, Anthony “Tony” Ball of Clinton, Stacy Burris and husband Eddie of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Justin and Kevin Burris, Kasey Law; great-great-grandchild, Grayson Law; nephews, Mark Patterson and Jerry Helton; nieces, Jeanette McClurg, Robin Kilo and Lynette Hale; several other nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.

Her funeral services followed in the chapel with the Rev. David Watson officiating. Her graveside was private Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Grandview Memorial Garden in Maryville.

BARBARA L. (CURNUTT) BLACKWOOD

Barbara L. (Curnutt) Blackwood, 81, Knoxville, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at her home.

She was a long time member of the Sinking Springs United Methodist Church, where she had many friends. She was lovingly known as, “Pokey,” by her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. She loved her dogs, gardening, sewing, cooking, enjoyed watching Lady Vols basketball, University of Tennessee football and spending time with her family.

Preceded in death by: Husband, Lloyd; parents, Christopher (Lum) and Minota Curnutt; sisters, Wanda, Evelyn and Diana.

She is survived by: Daughter, Diane Fergerson (Dave) from Powell; son, Dennis Blackwood (Audrey) from Florida; son, John P. Blackwood from Ohio; grandchildren, Holly Phillips, Emily, Brian, Lindsay, Brandon and James Blackwood.

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.

Her funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in the chapel of Holley Gamble Funeral Home. Her graveside will follow at the Sinking Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
