WALTER DEWEY BROWN

Walter Dewey Brown, 84, Claxton, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Walter was a member of Second Baptist Church of Clinton where he served as a Sunday school teacher. He previously served as church organist, choir member, and Sunday school teacher at Edgemoor Baptist Church of Claxton. Throughout his life he loved traveling, camping, attending sports events that his grandchildren played in, avid Tennessee fan, and most of all spending time with his friends and family.

Walter was preceded in death by: Wife, Dorothy Brown; parents, Joseph D. and Ruby Brown; daughter, Brenda Wentworth; grandsons, Timothy Brown and David Wentworth.

He is survived by: Loving companion, Inez Lane of Claxton; sons, the Rev. Steve Brown and wife Vanita of Atlanta, Ga., Anderson County Commissioner Chuck Fritts and wife Debbie of Claxton, Russ Brown and wife Kathy of Fredericksburg, Va., Wayne Brown and wife Michelle of Greeneville; grandchildren, Jayson Brown and wife Sarah, Kerri Brown, Matthew Peter-Fritts and husband Donny, Marie Maine and husband Justin, Chris Brown and wife Lindsay, Leah Lansdon, Deana Schaffer and husband Ryan, Rachel Mayes and husband Tyler, Ashley Brown, Kerri Julian; brother, Robert “Bob” Brown and wife Nancy of Bristol; numerous great grandchildren.

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. His funeral service followed in the chapel with Dr. Michael Thompson and Dr. Craig Whitt officiating.

Walter’s graveside service was at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Woodhaven Memorial Garden with the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating.

PATSY (PAT) WHITEAKER EZELL

Patsy (Pat) Whiteaker Ezell, Norris, passed away May 2, 2017, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.

She was 70 years old.

Mrs. Ezell was born in Knoxville, the oldest daughter of Mildred and James Whiteaker. She attended Knox County Schools in her earlier years and graduated from Norris High School in 1964. She later attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville studying computer science.

In 1965 she married her high school sweetheart, Gary Ezell. They celebrated 51 years of marriage and have a daughter, Kimberly Ezell Wichalonis of Cumming, Ga.

Mrs. Ezell worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Norris and Knoxville for many years as a computer programmer. She later worked for the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She was a member of the Norris Woman’s Club where she enjoyed working on the Scholarship Committee. She was also a member of The Second Act Book Club of Norris. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Ezell especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and their children.

She leaves behind her husband Gary Ezell of Norris; daughter, Kimberly Ezell Wichalonis of Cumming, Ga.; son-in-law, Gerard Wichalonis of Cumming, Ga.; grandchildren, Karoline Wichalonis, Mary-Kate Wichalonis, and Nicholas Wichalonis, all of Cumming, Ga.

The family is honoring Pat’s wishes and her visitation and burial will be private.

MARY LUCILLE HENSLEY

Mary Lucille Hensley, 74, Clinton, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 29, 1942, in Sedgwick, Kan., to the late William Lowder and Ruvita Rachel (Case) Starr. Throughout her life she loved fishing, hunting, hanging out at the lake and spending time with her friends and family.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by: First husband, Harold Hensley; second husband, Edwin West; son, Brent Hensley; brother, Leon John Conley.

She is survived by: Daughters, Joan Graham of Knoxville, Lucille Bayless and husband Mike of Andersonville, Debra Ridenour and husband Ben of Anderonville, Tammy Hensley of Andersonville, Rachel Hiyama of Andersonville; grandchildren, Felicia and Eric Graham, Jessica and Michael Smith, Brenton and Rachel Emory, Gregory Wallace and Sammy Norton, Brooke, Brenton, Amelia and Sheldon Hensley; great-grandchildren, Brieana Dabney, Alia Brooks, Makayla Graham, Brison Graham, Austin Lowery, Kaleb Lowery, Aiden Wasden, Trinity Wasden, Brenton Emory, Aiden Lovell, Addison Norton, Isabella Norton, and Harper Norton; sisters, Shirley Starr, Frankie Winegarner and husband Bob, Wilma Parkhurst; several nieces and nephews

The family would like to thank UT Hospice staff and a special thanks to nurses Kristen and Angie for their loving care and thoughtfulness given to Mary and her family.

ADRIENNE ‘ANGIE’ HOBBS

Adrienne “Angie” Hobbs, 75, Clinton, passed away at her residence Wednesday, May 3, 2017.

Adrienne served as treasurer for the Clinton AARP for seven years; enjoyed her time working with the Senior Citizens Senior Center at the Clinton Community Center and loved the years she helped provide and serve food to the Clinton High School Band before the high school games.

She was preceded in death by: Husband, Millard Hobbs; parents, Edward and Loretta Kelly.

She is survived by: Son, Mark Hobbs and wife Melanie of Oak Ridge; daughter, Jeneen Siefke and husband Shannon of Clinton; grandchildren, Stuart Siefke and Spencer Siefke

The family held a graveside service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Anderson Memorial Garden.

CAROL L. WELLS HUTSON

Carol L. Wells Hutson, 75, Rocky Top, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, at her residence.

She was born on May 30, 1941, to the late Rev. Tom and Minnie Davis Byrge in Campbell County. She was a member and loved attending Davis Chapel Baptist Church in Lafollette. She enjoyed singing, quilting, doing yard work, and cooking for her beloved family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: Husband, Ray Hutson; Sonny Wells; daughter, Janice Hutson; great-grandson, James Pennington; sister, Evelyn Jones; brothers, Lamon Byrge, Marshall Byrge, and James Byrge.

DANNY RAY MARTIN

Danny Ray Martin, 60, Clinton, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Summit View of Rocky Top.

Danny was born Feb. 17, 1957, in Anderson County to the late Avery Cleo Martin and Margaret Hawkins. He was an Army veteran. Danny was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed camping and fishing.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brothers, David Martin and Allen Foust.

Survivors include: Son, David Martin; brother, Warren Martin; sisters, Cindy Wilson, Linda and Charles Bowling; grandchild, Sabra Martin; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation was from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.

LONAS AVERY MARTIN

Lonas Avery Martin, 87, Rocky Top, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

He was born March 19, 1930, to the late Ed and Myrtle Martin in Anderson County. He was a member of the Crystal Lodge # 616. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, working on cars and was an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by: Wife, Ruby Huccaby Martin; all his brothers and sisters; daughter-in-law, Pat Martin; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He is survived by: Son, Avery Martin of Andersonville; daughter, Cathy Pannell and husband Fred of Crowne Pointe, Ind.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, May, 9, 2017, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the funeral following at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Danny Martin officiating.

BETTY JO McKINLEY

Betty Jo McKinley, 73, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

She was born March 9, 1944, to the late Nevie Sr. and Classie Mae Barton. Betty was a long time member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Clinton. She loved her family and friends. Betty enjoyed dancing, cooking and baking her specialty which was her chicken pies. She also enjoyed shopping. Betty worked at Levi Strauss in Powell until she retired.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: Brothers, Isiah, Nevie James and Curley Barton; granddaughter, Alana McKinley.

Betty is survived by: Loving family and will be missed by her daughter, Yelonda McKinley Poindexter of Clinton; devoted brother, Lincoln and wife Marcia Barton; special aunt, Inez Barton Johnson of Knoxville; close family friend, Oscar Moser of Clinton; sister-in-law, Janet Barton; close cousin, Sharon Cason; a host of nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces; special great-niece, LaSandra Golden; special great-nephew, Xalan Taylor; special little boy she called her grandson, Lebron Booker; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to say a special thanks to William Caldwell Jr., also Dr. Larry Kilgore and the staff at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Betty’s family received her friends from 4 – 5 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Clinton, with her celebration of life to follow at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Caldwell officiating.

Betty’s interment followed her celebration of life at the church cemetery.
