Charles Edward Huckaby Sr., 82, Clinton, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at his residence.
He was born March 19, 1935, in Anderson County to the late Everette and Grace Miles Huckaby. Charles proudly served his country in the US Navy during the years of 1956 - 1960. Charles attended Edgemoor Baptist Church. He loved to tinker and play with equipment, and spend time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by: Wife, Ann Marie Ownby Huckaby; and brother, Jessie Huckaby.
Survivors: Son, Charles Huckaby Jr. and wife Brenda of Caryville; daughter, Charlotte Ann Owens and husband Robby of Clinton; brother, Wayne Huckaby and wife Carol of Oak Ridge; sister, Lucille Huckaby of Clinton; grandchildren, Adrian Scott Owens and fiancé Heather Freels, Benjamin Tyler Owens and wife Britney, Courtney Graham and husband Benji, Russell Robbins; pets, Buddy and Archie; several nieces, nephews, and family members and friends.
Visitation was from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.
The funeral service followed visitation at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating.
Family and friends met at noon Friday, April 14, 2017, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton for the graveside service with Military Honors presented by the Campbell County Honor Guard.

John Edward Smithers, 86, LaFollette, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and brother-in-law. He was a member of FBC of Jacksboro, UMW Local 1569, and the Masonic Lodge. Known to family and friends as “John Ed” and “Papa,” he enjoyed a 26-year retirement from coal mining. His retirement allowed the opportunities to be an extra in the film October Sky and work on the restoration of the World War II fighter plane, Glacier Girl. A self- taught mechanic, John was known for his skills on Volkswagen autos and building dune buggies. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, music, western movies, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: Cherished wife of 63 years, Lillian Armes Smithers; Parents, John J. and Hazel Smithers; sisters, Shirley Smithers and Colleen Byrd.
John is survived by: Sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Marie Smithers and Jeff and Lois Ann Smithers; grandchildren, Amy Smithers (Aaron Powell fiance’), Emily Raulston (Andrew), Molly Starbird (Steven), Jake Smithers, and Abbey Smithers; great-grandchildren, Tori Blankenship, Liam Starbird, and Jack Raulston; sisters, Francois Roberts and Lois Underwood.
John also leaves behind close relationships with his sisters-in-law, Lydia Hatmaker, Loretta Woods, Dr. Deana Parks, and brothers-in-law, Virgil Armes and Freddy Armes.
Our family is very appreciative of Alexander Guest House staff, Lila Curry, Gail Disney, and Pam Romiq for their devotion, friendships, and loving care.
The family received friends from noon -1:45 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City, with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in LaFollette.

Mary Sue Bunch, 79, Rocky Top, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017, at the North Knoxville Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 8, 1938, to the late Ralph Gaylor and Edith Johnson Gaylor in Anderson County. She was a member of Longfield Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and doing word searches. She was a loving mother, mamaw, and great-grandma and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: Brothers, Joe Gaylor and Bobby Gaylor.
She is survived by: Children, Steve Gaylor and wife Sharon, Jeffery Bunch, Jennifer Phillips and husband Garry; grandchildren, Derek Gaylor, Kevin Gaylor, Justin Braden; five great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Rocky with the funeral service following at 7 p.m. The burial will be on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Oak Grove Cemetery with graveside service at 1 p.m.

Ronald Levi Powell, 72, Clinton, passed away April 4, 2017, at The Waters of Clinton.
He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Ronald was a faithful delivery man for Merita Bread for 37 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Irene Martin Powell
He is survived by: Daughters, Melissa Webb and James of Clinton, Melinda Elliott and Jeff of Lake City; grandchildren, Ashley Browning and husband Caleb, Harley Allison Edwards and husband Tyler, Misty and Jessica Byrge, Jeffrey Allen Elliott Jr.; great-granddaughter, Emma Autary; special friends, Daniel Bennett, Mindy Mack, Bobby Ellis, Jeremiah Autary, Peanut Roberts.

Jewel Daugherty, 91, Clinton, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 6, 2017.
Jewel was born in Rose Hill, Va., Oct. 13, 1925, to the late John and Susie Short Singleton. Jewel was a member of Blessed Way Baptist Church of God in Clinton. She loved going to church, cooking, sewing, quilting, and gardening.
In addition to her parents, Jewel was preceded in death by: Husband, Robert Daugherty; infant daughter, Cloteene Pruitt; daughter, Patricia Ann Woods; great-granddaughter, Saharra Bayleigh Daugherty; and brothers, Abraham Singleton, Henry Morgan, and Robert Singleton.
Survivors: Son, Robert John Daugherty of Mountain City, Alvin Daugherty of Clinton; daughters, Billie Sue Carter of Lake City, Darlene McLaughlin of LaFollette, Henryellen Seiber of Lake City, Judy Kaye Daugherty of Clinton; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; along with many other family members and friends.
Visitation was held from 6 – 9 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral service was held at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Homer Trett officiating.
Friends and family met at 10:15 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Laurel Grove Cemetery in Briceville for an 11 a.m. interment.

Johnnie Sharp Braden, a lifelong resident of Andersonville, passed away at her home at the age of 103, April 7, 2017.
Johnnie was an educator for more than 44 years with the Anderson County School System. A lifelong member of Andersonville First Baptist Church since 1925 and 72 year member of OES Clinch Valley #369. Throughout her life she was a Christian women who loved her family and will be remembered to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, aunt, and sister.
She was preceded in death by: Husband, Joseph A. Braden; parents, Thomas A. and Luda W. Sharp; brothers, Claude, Charles, Earl, and George Sharp; sisters, Lillian Hutson, Anna Lou Welton, and Mary Schubert.
She is survived by: Son, Bobby Joe Braden and wife Betty; grandchildren, Lyn Braden Oakley and husband Darrell, Andy Braden and wife Robin; great-grandchildren, Natalie Oakley, Jayce Braden, Taygan Childress; a host of special nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice nurses and staff; her caregivers Hope Leab, Heather Childress and her special friend Becky Goins for the love and care given to Johnnie during her illness.
The family received friends from noon – 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home followed by an Eastern Star Service in the chapel. Her funeral followed the Eastern Star Service with the Rev. Larry Ridenour officiating.
Johnnie’s burial followed her funeral service at Norris Memorial Garden.

Anna Lou Hansard, 72, Clinton, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 ,at her home in Clinton.
Anna was a lifelong member of Hinds Creek Baptist Church. She worked as a CNA for many years. As a young girl, she was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and then became an Eastern Star. Anna loved her family. She was the life of the party and never met a stranger. Anna enjoyed life, hummingbirds, and butterflies.
She was preceded in death by: Father, Fred Beets; and in-laws, Harley and Mary Hansard.
She is survived by: Husband of 55 years, Ronnie Hansard; mother, Helen Humphrey; daughters, Emma Nuchols and husband Eddie, Debbie Moore and husband Rodney, Rhonda Williams and husband Mike, Donna Harrington, and Valerie Wilcox and husband Larry; grandchildren, Stephanie Reynolds and husband Josh, Wesley Hansard and wife Tracy, Travis Moore and wife Nichole, Zachary Moore, Kelsey Hansard Smith and husband Earl, Abigail Nuchols, Molly Williams, Katie Nuchols, Spencer Wilcox, Aaron Harrington, and Ryan Wilcox; great-grandchildren, Luke Reynolds, Layla Reynolds, Levi Moore, and Lincoln Moore; sister, Mary Helen McNair(Danie); brother, Arnold Beets (Nancy); sisters-in-law, Billie Sue Hansard Cooper and Johnnie Fraker (Jack).

Anna’s interment will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Sartin Cemetery in Heiskell.

Sue Stokes Kitts, 73, Lafollette, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Lafollette Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Oct. 2, 1943, to the late Thomas Stokes and Geneva Queener Stokes in Campbell County. She was a Christian lady and a loving wife, mother and wonderful aunt. She enjoyed working with her flowers and was an animal lover, especially the birds that she fed at her home. She took pleasure in shopping, fishing, and visiting the beach. She loved life and will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by: Grandmother, Rosa Queener; and brothers, Benny and Ronnie Stokes.
She is survived by: Husband of nearly 34 years, Everett Kitts of LaFollette; daughter, Penny Sullivan of Clinton; sister, Brenda Jordan of LaFollette; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Rocky Top.
