Eula Jean Schubert Rutherford, 100, Clinton, passed away at her home June 9, 2017.
Mrs. Rutherford was born in Petros, Sept. 12, 1916. She was a member of one of the first families to settle in Morgan County, the daughter of the late Hugo and Della Schubert. She had been a long time resident of Clinton after her family moved here in the early 1930s. She met her future husband of 65 years, Charles Rutherford, while he was working in the soda fountain at the Corner Drugstore. They soon married after he returned from service during World War II. She had been looking forward to the time they would be reunited in their Heavenly Home. She often told her family, “I am ready to go home, to my Heavenly Home.” She was a woman of strong faith, and was a devoted wife and mother throughout her life. Mrs. Rutherford was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by: Husband, Charles Harrell Rutherford; parents, Hugo and Della Schubert; brother, Palmer Schubert; sister, Thelma Crumley; daughter-in-law, Nellie Rutherford; great-grandchild: Elizabeth.
She is survived by: Sons, Mike and Bonita Rutherford, Steve Rutherford; daughter, Karen and Sonny Rogers; grandchildren, Renee, Christi, Nathan, Nicole, Vic, and Matt; great-grandchildren, Travis, Logan, Lakin, Ellie, Emma, Ruby Jean, and Hazel
The family wishes to thank All About You Home Care, LLC for their services and caring of our Mother the past few years in a very respectful and loving way, particularly Geneva and Carolyn. They were like family to ‘Ms. Jean”. We also want to thank the nurses and staff at UT Hospice for their care and support.
The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The funeral service followed with the Rev. Mike Segers and Ben Neal (Hospice Chaplain) officiating.
Family and friends met at the funeral home at 2: 30 p.m. at Tuesday, June13, 2017, and proceeded to Sunset Cemetery in Clinton for a 3 p.m. interment.

PHYLLIS HARNESS TERRY

Phyllis Harness Terry, 85, Clinton, went to her heavenly home June 12, 2017.
Born June 7, 1932, in Detroit, Mich., she was mostly raised in Buffalo Creek, Tenn. She was a 1951 graduate of Huntsville High School and a charter member of White Rock Baptist Church in Huntsville. Phyllis married Carnelon V. Terry Jr. in 1951. She worked at Union Carbide as a clerk and junior lab analyst until he was drafted into the U. S. Army. They were stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas, then Fort Polk, La. After fulfilling his military duties, they moved to Clinton to raise their new and growing family.
Mrs. Terry retired from the State of Tennessee after 23 years of service to the Department of Human Services. She attended Midway Baptist Church since 1983.
She was preceded in death by: Adoring husband of 64 years, Carnelon; precious twin daughters born in 1955; parents, Wendell Harness and Selah Chambers Harness; brothers, Burldon and Byron Harness; and sister, Jeannene Harness Reynoso.
She is survived by: Daughters and sons-in-law: Teresa Pate of Clinton; Carol and George Asbury of Jacksboro; Elaine and Phillip Mills of Portsmouth, Va.; Annette Eaves of Clinton; Darlene and Roy Stout of Clinton; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
The family will receive friends at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, June 15, with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. Pastor Toby Geren and Bro. George Asbury officiating.
Mrs. Terry’s internment will be at Botts Annadell Cemetery, Capitol Hill, Scott County on Friday, June 16, 2017. The processional will gather at 9:30 a.m. at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home.

Betty Jean Owens Parrish, 85, Crossville, passed away June 7, 2017, at her residence.
Betty was born July 16, 1931, in Coal Creek to the late Marion and Cordelia Daughtery Owens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: Husband, Ralph Rutherford Sr.; sons, Ralph Rutherford Jr., Roger Rutherford; sisters, Fay Freeman, Lois Duff, and Noble Patty; and brothers, Cleo, Duck, and Marion Jr. Owens.
Survivors: Husband, Frank Parrish of Crossville; son, Bryon Rutherford of Crossville; daughters, Patty and Tom Schrader of San Antonio, Fla., Vickie and Jack Millner of Toledo, Ohio; sister, Opal Lamb of Lake City; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; devoted caregiver, Pamela Patterson; several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Visitation was from 11 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral service was at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating.
Interment followed funeral service at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City.
MICHAEL LYNN MITCHELL

Michael Lynn Mitchell, 56, Clinton, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, gained his wings Monday May 29, 2017.
Mike was an avid fisherman and prankster who loved spending time with his family and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by: Parents, Evelyn Jane Collins and Eddie Mitchell; grandparents, who raised him, Oscar and Lillian Massengill Walker; son, Michael Lynn Mitchell II; brother, Richard Lee “Richie” Sodd III, all of Toledo, Ohio; also a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved very much.
He leaves behind: One daughter, Melissa and husband Adam Oglesby; grandchildren, Breannia, Mason, and Anastasia Oglesby; brother, Ronnie Duane Mitchell; nephew, Ryan and Leah Gribbin Mitchell, and son Austin; ex-wife and close friend, Janice S. Miller; and special friend, Dan Domer, all of Toledo, Ohio.
Mike also leaves behind special friend Patricia (Pat) McGhee of Clinton and a host of family and friends both in Tennessee and Ohio.
A memorial service was held June 5, 2017, at Clinton Towers for his friends (where he resided) by Ronnie Mitchell and Keith Goins.
A second memorial service will be held in July when all his family can be together at Temple of Christ Church in Rocky Top, by his cousin David Massengill Sr.
FREDDIE PAUL HATMAKER

Freddie Paul Hatmaker, 66, Caryville, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at LaFollette Medical Center.
Freddie was born April 20, 1951, in Baltimore, Md., to the late Ernest Lee and Oma Duncan Hattmaker. He worked as an employee of Rocky Top for 38 years. Freddie loved working on cars, collecting flashlights and knives and going to flea markets.
He was preceded in death by: Parents; son, Nate Hatmaker; brother, Lee Hatmaker; and father-in-law, Fred Roberts.
Survivors: Wife, Sherry Roberts Hatmaker of Caryville; sons, Bryan Vowell and Amanda of Beech Grove, Adam Hatmaker and Erica of Jacksboro; daughter, Haley Maiden and Jacob of Lake City; grandchildren, Noah, Alexis, Logan and Skyler; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Visitation was from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the Hatmaker Funeral Home.
Freddie’s request was to be cremated after his visitation.

THANA DEAN STAIR LEHMAN

Thana Dean Stair Lehman, 84, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
She was born May 17, 1933, and grew up in Clinton. She lived the last two years of her life in Norris. Dean loved fine art, all music, reading and travel, especially to Scotland. Her work was in the healthcare industry as a nurse. She was especially suited for this profession and earned her nickname “Mercy” as she was so caring and loving to her patients.
Dean was preceded in death by Parents, Roy and Ora Smith Stair; son, Brantley Giles; brothers, Jerome, Frank, Brooks, Earl, Foozie and Denver Stair; and sister, Mary Ellen Bittle.
She is survived by: Loving husband of 43 years, William Fred Lehman; daughter, Beverly Giles Pruett, and grandsons, Phillip and Patrick; sisters, Martha Stair Alderson, Ora Lou Perkins; brother, Ervin Brock Stair; sisters-in-law, Icky Martin Stair, Patsy Stair Lomeli and Pearl Stair; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, with a celebration of life service to follow at 7 p.m.

Adrienne May Godsey, infant daughter of Jeremy Godsey and Savannah Sadler, was given her angel wings June 11, 2017.
Adrienne had a beautiful smile that could light up a whole room. She would wake up every morning with her daddy and watch him get ready for work with the biggest smile on her face. She would look up at her mommy like she was her whole world with the brightest blue angelic eyes. Her sister would make her giggle and play. She would hold her mommy’s hand and go to sleep at night. She loved to go outside, look up at the leaves in the trees. She loved bright colors, lights, her lambs on her swing, watching Sophia the 1st with her sissy and mommy, and most of all cuddling.
Adrienne is survived by: Parents, Jeremy Godsey and Savannah Sadler; favorite sister, Makenzie; maternal grandmother, Mary Sadler; paternal great-grandmother, Minnie Godsey; two wonderful aunts; and four amazing cousins.
She was preceded in death by: Maternal grandfather, Michael Sadler; and paternal great-grandfather, Charles Edward Godsey.
Services will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Shortly after she will have a graveside service at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested for a memorial fund.

LARRY GRANT EDMONDS

Larry Grant Edmonds, 69, Clinton, passed away Sunday morning, June 11, 2017, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Born Oct. 16, 1947, in Anderson County to Virgil and Ruby Edmonds, Larry worked for Y-12 and the City of Oak Ridge as a fireman for more than 20 years. He was a proud Army veteran who enjoyed gathering with fellow veterans at the Anderson County monthly Veterans’ breakfast. His greatest joy was being a devoted and loved “Papaw” to his grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by: Wife of 43 years, Teresa Maples Edmonds; daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Scott Mullens and Krissy and Chris Bishop, both of Clinton; grandchildren, Halie Melton and husband Eric, Brianna White, Zachary White, Sara Bishop and Eli Bishop; great-grandchildren, Natalie Ingram and Grant Melton; and brother, Kyle Edmonds of Houston, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home. A service will follow at 7 pm.
Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the funeral home and proceed to Maples Cemetery on Edmonds Cemetery Road for interment at 11 a.m., where Larry will be honored with full military honors.
